Mike, you're 100% correct. Meachum was NOT part of the defense. Meachum was an offensive player DEFENDING. Big difference.
Why? I'll tell you why! Because if the Redskins had scored on the interception, it would have counted in fantasy leagues as a score for the Redskins defense. Ergo, since there cannot be two defensive units on the field at the same time, the Saints were still on offense. Meachum checked in as a WR, and his position was no different when the Skins picked the ball.
Let's say some idiotic wag actually believed Meachum was "defense". By that standard, he became offense again the minute he recovered the fumble, since the Skins were again on "defense".
I've been a Pats fan since around 1912, and up until a few years ago I watched a lot of football, but the rules are so stupid now that it is no longer fun. I'd be perfectly happy with seeing each team line up in whatever formation they want. If the offense wants to put 2 guys on the line and have 8 run out for passes, let 'em. It would play right into the hands of the league, who realizes that, statistically, more scores=more $$.

Congratulations on Ladies of Pain (Lucy Joyce) for capturing the 2009 Acaeum Collector's League championship.  She completed her run with what is to me, an astonishing 64 drop/add transactions.  That is an average of two new players to her team and two kicked to the curb every single week of the season.

Eclavdra's Giants, Dallas Sharks and Block Wipes finished in the 2nd through 4th spots respectively.  The inaugural and two time defending champion Dragons finished in the 5th place slot.

Yes, my youngest brother had an auto draft, about five transactions and perhaps that many roster changes for the season, and won the league. Madness. He has graciously agreed to absolve all of us from the usual module payment since he is apparantly not interested in collecting anything more than he has (One longbox full of D&D stuff).  So Happy New Year to everyone in the league!!!

Final Week 1st games 1st half thoughts:

Classy move by Colts to make sure Clark and Wayne got their catches to each get 100 for the season.

If the Wes Welker injury is serious the Pats are done.  It looked bad and Welker's reaction was ominous.  BTW, how in the hell did he not make the Pro Bowl with 122 catches?  What does the guy have to do? Sheesh.

For those of us who thought the Giants would at least play for pride (Me included), don't look now, but they are taking up where they left off this week.  They can't even blame turnovers this week. They just plain suck.  If I was a Giants fan I'd be very worried about the last few weeks of the season and how ridiculous Manning and the rest looked. It's obvious that Brandon Jacobs needs to come back healthy, the defense needs to get their shit together, and they have to replace Plaxico (Steve Smith can't do it alone) or next year might be worse. This is ugly.

The Dolphins might not have made the playoffs but they did find their QB for next year.  Henne has looked better and better each week, ironically the injury to Ronnie Brown might have helped him because he's had to throw the ball more. The kid doesn't look half bad. BTW have the Steelers given up on their running game? With Big Ben throwing like Johnny Unitas the last few weeks, it's covering up the fact Parker is finished and Mendenhall is pretty much average.  

Snore inducing special: Either the Saints (minus all their key players) vs the Panthers or the 3-0 scoreboard in the Rams/49s game.

TO just scored a TD against the backups of the Colts to put the Bills ahead by 2 TDs.  Awesome, man.  Last game stat padding however won't help him in contract negotiations next year.  He either signs for a lot less or agrees to be a backup or he's not in the mix.  He's gone from one of the best in the business to a no name.

And the Falcons FINALLY had two winning seasons in a row for the first time EVER!   Their injuries mid-way through the season killed them, but next year I predict they'll make the play-offs again.  With Matt Ryan now with two seasons under his belt, I think he's going to go from good to very good.  Yes, he threw a lot of interceptions this year, but I think some of those were when the running game suffered with the loss of Michael Turner. It's definitely a change from the pre-Vick era when they rarely won.
