What is this?

It is not (I think) a set of the Reference Sheet from the OD&D White Box Sets.

I'm intrigued.. Certainly not like the Ref Sheets I have. Maybe its some booklet photocopied?

Perhaps it is the rarest item (n)ever found and a pre-D&D woody set of prelim rules...

Edit - almost looks like its an early MM or something?

I tempted to say that it might be a Holmes rulebook sans cover.  The page count is about right, but I don't remember enough about that one or currently have a copy nearby to check. :D

I just sent the seller a question about the dimensions of the booklet. That should help in trying to determine where it came from.

I don't recall any "pictures" in any of the older reference booklets.

It's definitely not a reference booklet.  From the seller's response to a previous comment/question:

"HI Thank you for your input However only the outer page is reference tables And that says page perforated for easy removal..Rest of book looks to definately be a game rule book as has things like creating characters, spells, dungeon mastering, cost of weapons etc etc etc, quite detailed..Cheers"

Found this on a quick search for the phrase "Forward from the Original Edition" combined with dungeons and dragons: http://www.roundtable-bretonnia.org/ind ... t=30#45321

I stick by my "Holmes rulebook sans cover" guess. :)

I would second that opinion.  Looks like a basic, maybe expert rulebook, missing cover. Would have to check though.

Pretty sure it's the GW version of the Basic book sans cover.

I think it's definately related to Holmes. The page with the pic of the dwarves matches page 25 of my 7th print rulebook, excepting that the pic has changed (still 3 dwarves) and the type layout for the statblock has changed. The reference tables also match Holmes.

The only question is, is this an early print Holmes, a copy of one, print error, or pre-production?

Could be me. I found a listing for a $30 BIN and snagged it. No clue if it was a relisting or the result of someone else asking for a BIN. I certainly did not ask for the price. The one and only time I tried that, I at least was willing to offer about half the value. When the seller added a BIN, someone placed a bid and cancelled the BIN. That's Karma. I haven't attempted that since.

It's a photocopy. An old one, but definately a photocopy.
Unless it's a very rare pre-pub 1st printing. Buy it, and we can list it on Acaeum as a new edition and it'll be worth quite a bit of money.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Thats the bit I thought about, as the pics don't seem too great. Wouldn't it be fun if it was?

Yep. Or it could be a rare stickerless Zocchi pre-pub that was put out before GW took on the project and did their own cover? Might be worth thousands.

Aside.... The seller is not posting the responses to all the questions she is being asked about it being a photocopy. She is cherry picking so as not to have the issue appear on the auction. This is incredibly deceitful, and having asked a few questions now, and had her concede that it is a photocopy, she is being dishonest and trying to rip people off. She knows she's selling a photocopy of the blue book and she doesn't give a f'ck if it's illegal or not. She just want's some mug to buy it.

Rogues Gallery no hole punches.

Second Print in very well used condition.

I recall someone was asking about a no hole RG a while back.

But it is still cheap.
