Might be cheap - have to see when the auction ends :D

(BTW - how rare are these deeper box version of the basic set - I think that they're more of a UK thing but I could be wrong)(Just looked at the Foreign Editions section on this site - looks like they are the GW ones!)

They aren't hard to find if you watch Holmes auctions (particularly in the UK) obsessively, but they are hard to pick up cheaply if others are paying attention.

Be wary of "F-116R" rulebooks being sold on their own -- more often than not they're from these sets, instead of from the US 1st printing.

I believe the damage was caused because it was too tall for the box.

I think the ones in the boxes normally were trimmed (rather inexpertley) to fit the box, by having their bottom cut off.

That makes sense.  Then this one was probably either not trimmed properly or was not part of this box set originally.

Johnhuck can let us know if he ever visits the forums again.  He picked it up for a pretty decent price.

I saw that John won that - not seen him around for ages. (Am I dreaming or did he sell a load of stuff off at the beginning of this year?)

Hope this means he'll come back here - nice guy John

Books look good, box a bit worn but probably better than average.

How many sheets are supposed to be in AC5?  14 sounds like an odd number to have originally come with. I looked up the AC5 info on the miscellaneous page of the site, but it didn't mention the total of number of sheets.

The seller states "All books are in great shape, no tears, missing pages, writing, highlighting or stains.", but I wonder if he's not aware that a bunch were removed.

This would be a decent buy it now if the items weren't heavily worn, but it is the comment at the end about moisture damage that kills this lot.

Totally agree.  Soon as there is any hint of water near books its a no go.  Staple rust, mould and dodgy stuck together pages just don't do it for me. PDT_Armataz_01_33

It looks like it was curled up at the edges from being stored in the box.  There are 39/50 sheets remaining.  So, I'm fairly happy with the acquisition.

The rulebook doesn't have prices, but the reference on page 11 is to Halflings rather than Hobbits.  I now have two sets like this.  And they both have the White Dwarf subscription form with the image of #13(Jun/Jul 79) and #14(Aug/Sep 79).  But I suppose that there is a very good chance that these forms were slipped into any unsold boxes lying around in the shops rather than at the point of production.

Does anyone have a third UK print that mentions Hobbits?  If so, then these presumably sit between the existing 3rd/4th.

Unfortunately only a flying visit.  But I still occasionaly lurk.

Thank you very much

Will try and drop by.

I did get rid of some stuff.  But there is still more to list when I get round to it.

A word of advice for anyone planning on having kids. They really do take up a lot of time.  And I've only got the one!
