It was lifted from M*A*S*H, actually.

Oh, and Jason? I'll say anything to your face, tough guy. You pick the time and place.

I hate to point to BoardgameGeek as a place with a bright idea, but it's clear that The Acaeum could really follow its example of separating all political, religious, and other "hot topic" discussions into a completely separate area.

Image

This used to be a fun thread: sports talk, goofy news stories, random insults at Wizards and Gleemax, and other off-the-wall stuff that clearly didn't fit in anywhere else. But, for the last few weeks and months, it's been almost completely taken over by people using it to promote their agendas and world-views. It's now the least fun thread here, by a country mile.

This is, in theory, a site for D&D collectors. There are roughly 100,000 other sites and blogs where anyone here can discuss their political views. I propose we spin off all of this nonsense into a separate thread and return our "OT chit-chat" thread back to its original state. The advantages are obvious: those wishing to discuss politics can do so in an "anything goes" environment; those of us who couldn't possibly care less what anyone's political views are at this site would be able to easily ignore that thread until the end of time.

JasonZavoda wrote:The fighting in Iraq was between military forces. The last meaningful confrontation was the attempt by an armored column to assault the airport (as I remember) and they were promptly slaughtered. But the difference between fighting a war outside of urbanized areas against uniformed and alien enemy is far, far different from fighting a war in an urban environment, and a civil war at that.

The fighting in Iraq ceased being between millitary forces somewhere around May of 2003.  Since then, its has been nothing but an urban warfare. We have lost ~ 4 thousand troops in the process, but the numbers going the otherway are at the very, very least 10 fold.

JasonZavoda wrote:The two great internal dangers to the USA are the disarming of the private citizen and the influx of non-citizens into the military. But the how would you use the tools of the military in a civil war, unless it was at the point where large scale military forces were already deployed, one against the other? You would have to use the military as a police force against its citizens. A disarmed population can be controlled by a relatively small military organization.

First off and foremost, suprisingly enough, you are now trying to argue a strawman. I never said disarm the public, I said that the Second Ammendment is far overrated these days and it is. If the US military turned its full force against the US public, the US public would be up the proverbial crick without an oar, Second Ammendment rights or not. It's really not even debatable.

JasonZavoda wrote:Call me racist, or spinning things, if you want to toss out insults, but there are cultures in this world, and cultures generalize. I say that America is dominated by an Anglo culture. You can usually tell the culture by the language being spoken. As far as European and UK aristocracy being inbred, that is a matter of history. Look at the war of three cousins, or WWI, A king, a kaiser and a czar, all first cousins.

Aside from the fact that the royal family in the UK has very little real power these days, you are citing something from 100 years ago as though it is still true today.  Also, broad generalizations about whole groups of people are a clear tool of hate, so calling you bigoted and quite possibly a racist isn't an insult, its quite likely the truth.

Now with that said, I think that I will excuse myself from this "discussion" from here on out.  Unfortunately, this started out a civil discussion between people, but it has drifted far away from that now.

We should probably just drop it altogether. Foul really doesn't like politics being discussed here and as evidenced by the results in this thread, this seems to be a wise move.  I am as guilty as anyone else for participating in this clusterf***, but lets all just agree move on.  :)

Werehuahua

Image

No. Encountered: 1 - 3 or 5 - 15
Size: Small
HD: 2 (d4)
Move: 40 feet
AC: 13
Attack: Bite (1d6)
Special: Cute, Rage, Shapechange, Leap, Scent, Twilightvision
Saves: P
Int: Low
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Type: Shapechanger
Treasure: 2 (6 in lair)
XP Value: 25 + 5

A werehuahua is truly cursed for they are loved and reviled simultaneously. But, it is not their fault -- werehuahua are unable to control their actions, both in their ordinary form as mundane, albeit adorable puppies, or their, seemingly preferred, vicious gnoll-like shape, due to countless years of mistreatment, abuse, and inbreeding.

They are natural shapechangers but, unlike others of their kind, are unable to manipulate the ability: sometimes, the werehuahua will simply smell something, or take an inoffensive action as one of aggression, and snap, instantly transforming; there is no pattern or reason, and if there is, none has been discovered. When one does, it becomes a nightmare, expanding several-fold and taking on a diminutive, two foot tall, humanoid form, the limbs extended along with the face, the mouth widening as the teeth, especially carnassials, lengthening to deadly proportions. Their eyes will gloss and darken, and the werehuahua will growl, losing any hint of intelligible speech. Any notion of pleasantness that may have existed prior is shattered -- the werehuahua attacks immediately knowing nothing of fear or size discrepancy.

If one, however, can encounter a docile werehuahua, they discover the breed is quite friendly, communicative (they speak through a series of yips and barks, a language seemingly derived from gnolls) and very playful. Werehuahua enjoy all canine activities, and are quite capable of learning tricks and performing -- there are rumors of a powerful magician who has a trope of traveling acrobatic werehuahua.

Combat: Ordinarily, a werehuahua is content and enjoyable, but this tends to be in short bursts for werehuahua are unpredictable, rapidly changing to beast. When angered, or in their altered form, a werehuahua is fearless, biting and lashing, usually attacking the face and other soft spots, such as hands or genitalia -- any place the werehuahua can reach is a target for their threats and they will not back down until their rage has subdued.

Cute: A werehuahua in its natural form is absolutely adorable, effectively radiating a continual influence and sanctuary spell. This ability has no effect on individuals with a substantial fear or loathing for dogs of any sort.

Rage: Werehuahua are angered (and threatened) readily causing them to enter a berserk state of aggravation, attacking with maddening brutality. Any time the werehuahua has used its shapechange ability it is considered a monster of 4 HD for attack and save purposes.

Shapechange: Able to transform their bodily structure, werehuahua can become a terrible beast that resembles a miniature gnoll (q.v.) When this occurs, any damage previously sustained is healed and the werehuahua gains a +2 improvement to Armor Class but loses their cuteness effect. Furthermore, as natural shapechangers, a werehuahua is immune to polymorph effects unless it wishes to be affected.

Leap: Despite its smallness, a werehuahua is able to cover large distance with its powerful hind legs, jumping up to 15 feet. If this is done as part of an attack, consider it a charge but do not penalize the werehuaha's Armor Class as normal.

(Scent and Twilightvision are common -- I did not rewrite them as they work as for every monster.)

While I do not agree with many of your points, the statement above rest is undeniably true.
And the fact that they feel that only diplomacy will win friends of current enemies and influence peoples of the world to like us again.

The American left is hung up on the wrong headed thinking that America is guilty of everything, that we deserve whatever we get.

Only those whose heads are buried in the sand would deny it.

Hell, they shout it from the rooftops.

Hell.......  some SCREAM it from behind the pulpit in church!

Freedom of speech, as long as it is the kind of speech you & bclark like or it is insults and the name calling.

Sure, let's move on. A friendly list shouldn't talk politics or religion, but it has to work both ways. Don't bring it up and it won't be discussed or objected to.

And if you want to call someone out be prepared to stand up and back up your words. So your choice about insulting me to my face is never and nowhere. If you change your mind you know how to find me in the real world.
