Seriously, the fact that you think that's insulting to anyone says a lot about you and what the fundamental currency of your life is
I actually started with 2.0, but I am a different kind of collector than most of the people here, to be sure. I collect for completeness of information rather than for idiosyncracy, so I'd rather have Curse of Gethin Abbey and a regular B3 than an orange covered B3.
I want every word ever printed: I could care less if Gary Gygax sacrificed one of his children and wrote the book in its blood or if it's a reprint in the latest dungeon mag.

Someone once, defending their right/claim to post here, noted that they played D&D forever & so did not deserve to be treated as an outcast. Another member countered that newbies often make such claims, & concluded that it must be a sign of trolldom. When the Acaeum drives newcomers away, which happens with sickening regularity, naturally the outcasts will start sites of their own. Hence, BGG's new RPG section. No one owns my memories of playing or collecting D&D - not Hasbro, not the Acaeum, not anyone. If the Acaeum continues to behave like it does, it is doomed to sink into obscurity.

Badmike wrote:Agenda: this. Now, saying someone has an agenda isn't really insulting, just noting the fact that some of their posts may swing a certain way. I've certainly got an agenda, Zavoda has an agenda, King has an agenda, etc. Anyway my point being you seem to be the guy who always posts when something is found "wrong" on the site with the "See, I told you guys the site isn't as accurate/up to date as it could/should be". Nothing offense about it, but tell me I'm wrong here David.

The last things of note I collected were nice copies of Chaosium's Perilous Encounters & AH's Wizard's Quest. In both cases, I won the auctions for $5 apiece because no one else had the money to bid (they should have gone for twice the amount at least). That was 7 or 8 months ago - after that I joined the ranks of the penniless. From the declining forum traffic in this period, I take it that many are in the same situation. If there's an upside to it all, it's that the great ages of gaming have taken place in recessions: the stagflation/oil shock of 1973-74, & the rust-belt collapse of 79-83 come to mind right off the bat; later declines were accompanied by more games as well. Maybe society seeks escapism. When the Help Wanted signs go down, maybe the Adventurers Wanted signs go up.
