I was kinda split on that feature, honestly.  While I can see the benefit (like how you describe, for getting the text at work), there were two big negatives:

1) I can't tell you how many times people replied to the e-mail, thinking they were replying to the post (and the reply e-mail was sent to me!),

2) complaints from people saying "how come these PMs are stuck in my Outbox?" (the PM *had* been read -- via the e-mail -- but since it was not physically clicked on in the PM Inbox, the system regarded it as unread, and it remained in the sender's Outbox).

Unfortunately, I feel these two negatives outweigh the positives, at least for now.

The ForumRunner app for iPhone (and presumably Android) should be able to read this forum,
but I think you need to flip a switch on your end, Scott.

The new format looks great on iPhone and iPad.

Obviously it's small on the iPhone screen, but it's manageable in a pinch,
especially if you're just doing a quick reply, or checking a pm, or something.

FoulFoot wrote:Not sure what you're complaining about -- if the thread is orange, clicking it will bring you to the first unread post.  If it's blue, there's no unreads, and clicking it will bring you to the first post.

If for some reason you want to go directly to the first or last page, you can do that from the pagination squares to the right of the topic (for multi-page topics).

The problem is that, if the thread is blue, at least when I last checked, it automatically redirected to the last post of the thread which I did not like. Primarily because I always use the "mark all threads read" before I log out and leave the site. However, I can still do what I want... I just don't log in first. If it has been fixed, great. I no longer care since I'll just use my method anyway.

I also appreciated getting the body of the PM via e-mail. It allowed me to judge whether I wanted to bother logging on right then to reply, or just save it for later.

RE: the themes... I never knew I had a choice before   , so I guess I don't miss it.

The signature editor (UCP / Profile) was broken, and is now fixed.

Consider the switch flipped!  The ForumRunner app should now be able to find and read the forum.  For anyone with access to this, lemme know how it's working out --

Well I installed ForumRunner and am posting with it right now. It does indeed work. Thanks for doing this, I mostly browse from my mobile.

Hiya,

I think what I don't like is the colour scheme on this - the brown/blue/orange combo.

I am still getting used to it, but I think it just looks odd.

Cheers,

I gotta say I like the way the forum looks at present, despite my initial reservation that it looked too busy.
I didn't know you could view forums on a phone without viewing the full site in a browser. I'll have to look into that.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I happened to agree with your initial observation -- this theme was a complete re-work from the one you previewed last month.  I stole some elements and ideas from that previous theme, which are the similarities you see.

Not a bug, but if there is one thing that I am really having a difficult time getting used to, it is that the administrative, announcement, and stickied threads arent separated by a buffer anymore like they used to be.  For some reason my brain is having a difficult time adjusting to that particular difference.

And is it just my imagination or is everything just a bit smaller than before?  I've always had close to perfect eyesight but recently I wonder if I need an eye exam.

By the way, are you planning on changing the landing page and the other sections of the site to match what youve done with the forum?

It's something I'm taking a look at.  I'm not thrilled with that particular presentation either.

Some fonts have been reduced a point size.  I'll also look at bumping it up a bit to see how it looks.  The topic pages themselves are exactly the same size as before, though.

Perhaps.  :)

Both issues addressed!  Sticky icons added, and much of the smaller text has been kicked up a pixel.
