[OT] Just how many copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 are there out there? Two in one auction sale in a week - should I be surprised there are "only" 290 slabbed in the same grade or higher as http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.p ... t_No=14006 or higher?

Yeah, iconic issue, etc., but an interesting perspective onto relative $ "value" given the number of active comic book readers can't be that much more than the number of PnP RPG players these days? (If not less?)

I remember finding one in a box of comics I bought for $5 at a roadside yard sale many moons ago. There was a big stain on top of 1/3 of the whole row, missed the AF by 3 mags or so. I was in my dad's living room, and I said "Holy Shit!". He almost decked me until I told him why.

Ah... the blessing of parents who /understand/, no? :)

Doubt if I'd've gotten away with that and an Owl & Weasel #1 or whatever. (Somehow Cerebus #1 doesn't fit that AF#15 cachet *g* , but was never /that/ much into the comics back-in-the-day or more recently).

I traded an incomplete set of hockey cards for one way back (1987 or so).  Sold it a few years later for a few thousand :)

I'm renting a house.  According to the landlord's handyman, the local cops were at the rental office asking about ME.  Apparently all kinds of people have been coming and going from my house at all hours.  This is news to me, since I go to work during the day and sleep at night.  I suspect that my neighbors are confusing me with the drug house next door or the drug house down the street.

One other possibility is the Skype gaming on Friday nights.  If anyone is talking to me on Skype and the cops kick in my door, I blame YOU for attracting the attention of the authorities.  :)

BadMike is talking to the authorities when he 'pretends' to drop out of the Skype call.  I'm pretty sure this always happens when Mongo makes a kick ass roll and takes down Mike's bad guy.  Seriously, would your fellow players have you picked up by the local police for saving the party?  I don't think so.  Look to the DM! :)

Laphroaig has long been my favourite single malt. I have been drinking it for many years.

It's absolutely wonderful.

Have you tried the Quarter Cask or the Cask Strength?

The 10-years is pretty unique all by itself.

I'm trying to get into this Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish... it's a tad sweet for my taste. It had nice chacolate and almond overtones. the breath is black pepper... but lacks the grassy/gasoline-band-aids of the Laphroaig.

the Glenmorangie/PWF Would make a good Digestif... I'm imagining it after a nice lamb diner. Not so much as a late-nite-wind-down dram.

Are you coming to NTRPGcon? We should have a little tasting party after hours.

Glenmorangie 10 year is my scotch of choice but I honestly prefer the blended stuff.  I've tried Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Macallan, The Balvenie, and Dalwhinnie and I haven't found a single malt yet that I like as much as I do Johnny Walker Blue.  Maybe Bracton will be able to make it and bring a bottle of the Highland Park that he is always raving about.

As for Laphroaig....havent tried it.  Not sure I want to when most of the reviews I have read start off with "medicinal".

There will also most definitely be a bottle of Patron tequila (or two) at next years NTRPG Con.  8)

How much does Johnnie Walker Blue cost in your area?
Our government run liquor stores retail a 750 ml bottle for $168.29.

Link to PDF with prices for what we pay for booze.

Example:
12 bottle package of Budweiser beer = $20.50

Haven't got my hands on anything but the regular Laphroaig. One of these days I hope to get over to the US and it is a dream to go to one of the cons! Would be great to meet some of the Acaeum gang and drink some good single-malt!

That sounds about right for here in Delaware (or am I thinking JW Green?), not that I buy it. I drink my "cheap" Oban at $65 for a 750 ml bottle, and that only once every couple months.

Here's my favorite store's website with their single malt prices --> http://www.thepartysource.com/spirits_single_malt_scotches.php (I didn't think they had that many)

First time I went into it, I fell in love. Basically a big warehouse with rows and rows of adult beverages. You name it or can think of it, and chances are they have it in stock.

I used to spend a lot more money there before my wife and children though  :D

You can get single-malts online for much cheaper... Astor Wines in NYC has a site and a b&m store and you can compare their Glenmorangie 10-year at $37.99  vs. 52.99 at the Party Source.

Funny, some tasters feel the Glenmorangie has a bit of a "blended" quality" to it. probably why the real snobs don't love it. Everybody LIKES it.

ThE Port Wood Finish is a bit sweeter and smokier... maybe nuttier. It's nice. I know a guy that'll sell you a bottle for about $90. But maybe try the new Quinta Ruban (it's replacement) First.

I find it funny but descriptors like "medicinal, Polymers, Earthy, Grassy. Peaty" for some reason are more desirable than "Almond, Candy, Chocolate, caramel..." They just work.

I just spent $80 on a discontinued bottle and REALLY want to like it more than the Laphroaig 10-year... but honestly the weird "freshly-cut-lawn-gasoline, smokey, band-aid" taste wins.
