I have a plan so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

I would like to thank the committee for their work on this project.

Having said that, please remove me from the reserve list.

This art isn't for me...

I have to say I'm a bit surprised at the amount of people bowing out because they don't like the art. The look of it is certainly classic Erol Otus and I'm assuming everyone who wanted one is familiar with his style.

I'm just wondering what it is that people don't like. Is it the look of it or the actual content of the picture? Was there ever a discussion on the boards as to what the picture should or shouldn't look like or was it left up to the artist?

To be clear, I'm not faulting anyone for not liking it. There is plenty of art out there that I don't care for either. I just think the response is interesting.

It is certainly classic Erol Otus style...no denying that.  :D   If you read back through the beginning of the thread, there were a few comments about what some people envisioned the piece would look like and what they would like to see....but in the end I believe that it would be left up to the artist.  I will admit, it isn't anything like I thought it would be.  But with the exception of a couple of small things, I really like it.  I don't have a clue what's going on with the fighter type in the middle but it looks damn cool.  And is it just my imagination or does the tower in the background have the word "Acaeum" on it?

It's his Bill Bixby moment...you know, just as you're about to go to/come back from the commercial break. :)

King,

Yes, you are right: the tower in the background bears the word 'Acaeum.'

The fighter is being healed/spelled-up mid-battle.*

The art was left completely up to Erol, save for the inclusion of the site's name.

All the best,

Paul

*Edit: Damn spelling....

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe...we are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

I thought when I was reading back through the thread that several concepts were going to be presented to him? Did the ideas wind up being too similar to those three DCC covers? :?
