Yes, they aren't Everest or the Rockies, but they're big enough to have fatalities each year and to be deemed dangerous, so you have to be prepared.Snowdon recently recorded 40mph winds,have a look on some links, they aren't a walk in the park...

killjoy32 wrote:if youre planning it as an expedition over x days, i would do snowdon, ben nevis and then scafell last as its the smallest, which would make way for a nice celebration climb at the last, knowing all the hard work is out the way pretty much, though its STILL hard work to climb cos youre tired.training for this? just do lots of hill walking with loads of steep hill climbing if you have it - go also in the gym on the treadmills and have em set on the highest incline and a decent walking speed and do that for 30 mins each time. will kill your calf muscles but builds your legs well for hill walking.never been up ben nevis or scafell so cant comment on them, but snowdon can be a decently difficult climb. its not too hard though if you take it easy and pace yourself. its by no means easy though. if you take the Llanberis trail, which is the easiest trail (do NOT take the pig trail or youre in trouble), its a decent steady climb. you will pass the half way house, where you can grab a quick coffee, then after that, you will encounter two VERY steep climbs where they are VERY hard...but again take it easy and just pace and rest as its not a race, then its just a trek pretty much to the top. there is a new visitors centre at the top - its very cool and you can also get refreshments there too, though it tends to be pretty busy.i might be doing the 3 peaks this year anyways....am i fit enough? nah...but you know me. its not a challenge otherwise i can get up snowdon walking decent with a 25lb pack in 1hr 43mins and run down in 1hr 10-15. but dave, if you keep me posted when youre doing snowdon, i might come along and give you some moral support Al
