Is it worth that much even with the CD? Maybe it's just not to my taste, but I distinctly recall my FLGS hardselling me on the thing when it was brand new in the S/W at $100 (or whatever) and being totally uninterested. I suppose it might have some collectible value in the long run... Maybe I just don't like Monte's stuff.

You don't like Monte's stuff??

He is probably the one of the best modern RPG writers out there IMHO :)

I just couldn't find anything inspirational in Ptolus at all. It's a bog standard sprawlling city like any of the many thousands that have been pumped out over the past three decades. There is also no visual difference, or inspiration in the design of the city or the quality of the cartography or artwork. The only thing that appears to seperate it from Worlds Largest City is price and Monte Cooke's name

Given the choice, there are far better designed city environs out there, but these things are all personal preference. There are people who play and use World Worst Dungeon and don't see a difference in design or quality between it and other megadungeons.

Even in mixed/low grade, that seems pretty cheap for a run of Imagine (no Special of course):

WOW!

That is easily the worst condition Issue 1 Dragon that I have ever seen.

It's a survivor though. Looks like it was in someone's rucksack in the jungle and then his wife put it through the washing machine to get the bugshit off it.

compared to this one at $437 (currently)

My only suggestion would be to use a sniping tool so that prvteye, the guy that literally fancies himself to be a "private eye", can't run up your bid in the future :)

Decent BIN though the condition is not very good, it is at least complete.

Good play copy.

Is the cover of the rules book supposed to be colored like that?

It is described in the auction:

significant amounts ink on cover, with slight bleed-through to inside of cover (the result of a custom coloring job).
