Hey Benjoshua,  I'm a dumba$$!  You can remove me from the wait list (I'm on the original at #7  Pays to read a little more accurately...)  Awesome job by the way of tracking interest in this project

Yes, thanks very kindly for the inclusion. It means a lot to me. And many people are very excited now.

Cheers,
David

good point really, as kgreene & ector both have a whole 2 posts each so its clear they were tipped off to join by a 'friend' (leave that open to interpretation) here so they could get extra copies....

However, I didn't officially list my name at the beginning (although I'm sure I did post in the opening couple of pages that I was interested.

I am quite happy to remain on the wait list though, as I suspect someone will still drop out.  :)

... and those posts were to say 'I'll have one!', or 'Sign me up.' Then they bugger off and hope they'll score a rare collectable in place of people who actually collect and enjoy D&D and the community we build here.

First and foremost, above all else, this was meant to be a community project, something by and for the Acaeum community. I know Benjoshua was the guy who pick up the ball and ran with it, but when I first floated the idea of getting together and commissioning a piece, I was thinking of Acaeum members, and not those from elsewhere who want to leach on.

Now, if you were gonna run off 100 copies and sell to the wider public after the Acaeum membership were taken care of, that would be a different matter and a whole different project. As it is, the spirit of an Acaeum art commission is somewhat stained by both the disappointment of those who should be included and the injustice of those who none of us know and who don't visit this site.

You guys need to put that right.

Yep. I concur.

Just for the record, I don't consider amount of posts any sort of measuring stick as to whether or not someone is "officially" an Acaeum member. Many people who don't post a lot check in everyday, or participate in other ways in the community.

However, a useful feature on this site is checking the members list and seeing when the last time a member has checked in. In regards to some people, it's very enlightening how much a barometer it is of their community participation    Let's just say that since this project was announced, I've been keeping regular tabs on a few of the more dubious entries....

TBH, like Johnhuck and Gnat and Killjoy and ExTsr, everyone takes time away from time to time. Everyone has somethimes to return to and deal with real life, business and family. The issue most of us have a problem with are the parasites who inevitably try to get in on what they percieve as a chance for something rare, over and above those who are members and are contributing to the community here. It ia a sad day when someone anonymous can sign up with a single post and then fuck off and take something we all hope is going to be special from contributors who make themselves at home here.

Exactly that. I do wonder if it is possible that a member registered a new profile so as to catch two/three copies? But as I said earlier, I'm happy to stick on the waiting list as I hadn't gone public on getting my name on the lists.

The real issue isn't about post counts or daily visits, but registering to pick this nice piece of artwork without ever coming back again. But hey ho... :)

That's a much easier thing to spot. The site registers a users IP address when they log in to their account, so unless some specific planning were involved, I'd imagine it far more likely that the anomilous names on the list are just leachers.

Another way to think about it is that this offering has attracted new members who will in turn remain on Acaeum after the commission is complete and might not have found out about the site or the forum otherwise. Something to think about. Either way getting into involved discussions about supposed leeches and focusing on the great injustice of it all brings the act of commission down just as much as, say, someone registering just to get one in the first place.

I note I'm #57 and I'm still very interested!

That's horse shit.
There is a difference between those few who have come along and become active and welcome members of the Acaeum community, and those who just want to grab a commission. Where is the justice in stiffing active members, in favour of cling-ons, just because they got their only ever post in before other members did? Where is the Acaeum community project in all this? And if they're gonna rule that Mr One-Post has more right to what limited copies are available than Mr Active Member, then why the hell can't those of us who are collectors and signed up for more than one copy in the first instance entitled to get those multiple copies over Mr One-Post? I for one would be willing (and was willing) to give up my preferred second copy, but the thought that some anonymous asshole is gonna get that copy rather than an Acaeum member really makes the whole process a joke.

That is horseshit as stated by mbassoc...

But as I have clearly said, I should have applied clearer at the start, am happy to wait on the list and only question the motives behind the non-posters. There should not be a limit as to how many posts you have made in general or how often you visit.

I think that posting twice takes the piss out of the whole process and principle of creating an Acaeum piece of art in the first place.

As it seems likely they are not already registered members, I'd still question as to where their copies are going to go. I doubt very much that they would stay in their possession if they have never posted here other than to ask for a print. It's more likely they will give their copy to their 'friend' here who tipped them off in the first place.

It will be interesting to see where the prints are a year after they are produced. I know who will still have theirs and would guess who won't!
