It's a good little boxed set. Well worth putting on anyone's games shelf.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Dragon magazine #1, first printed copy signed by Timothy Kask for 1.2K As I understand he was one of the first employees for TSR and helped with editing the original supplements?

Also, is there a way to verify that a copy is the very first one from the printing press and how would that affect its value?

if it was in any kind of reasonable shape, i'm sure i would have bid on it at the time. Tim hadn't given us a heads up about it ahead of time, but when it was described (with water damage iirc) from the podium, it didn't sound very appealing. i think it sold for around 150 back in 2006. at least the current ebay sellers of this item have described it as "fair" condition rather than the usual "other than the water damage and the blood stains it would be in NEAR MINT CONDITION !!!". so to answer your question, the value is in the eye of the beholder. when greg stafford sold the "first" copy of runequest a few years ago i won that, but other than the word first written across the top, it was in great shape. in hindsight i wish i had bid when he put up the first CoC box as well, but i didn't since i really try to limit myself to frp.

The price sounds just a bit over inflated .... YMMV but there are other items I would rather spend that sort of dosh on ... Be intersting to see if it get anys bites at that price.

If it were something I'd be interested in, I think, at most, double the price of the issue in the condition it's it would be fair. $1200 seems to be wishful thinking IMO.

I was just looking back at some auctions and didn't realize the ST1 Up the Garden Path sold for 775 GBP (approx $1200US) a couple months ago. (the original listing had it at 1100 GBP)

CAUTION: The shrink on the D2 & D3 is obviously original, but I'm very suspicious of the D1.

Why D1 SW is suspicious to your eyes ?

D1 seems to have a seam on middle of back cover, is it not a possible sign of an original SW of TSR of the early 80s ?

Are D2 and D3 SW more "original" because they are loose and wavy on the module ?

I'm interested to have details about your opinion on these SW items.

What ExTSR is alluding to is that these modules were packaged with shrink that was normally loose or "bubbly", not tight, like later modules. The SW on D1 looks different than what would be normally expected for a monochrome.

Right. But the D1 shrink might be genuine; the seams look right (just not the bubbles).
But that shrink is indeed typical of early '80s... and D1 came out much earlier than that. :/

Leaves is a 2nd print, but that's still a fair price for the group.

My limited experience with shrink is that loose shrink was the result of the machine not being up to snuff on the heat, while curling and possibly tears could happen from excessive heat. But then there are different machines, and I'm sure they don't all work the same.
