MetamorphosisSigma wrote:Naw, that was a different pervert. Robert Adams... By all acccounts I've heard Jordan (Rigby) was a nice normal sort of chap.
JasonZavoda wrote:Jordan had to have written more than two conan stories because I have a two volume set of the Robert Jordan conan stories.
FormCritic wrote:He could have written two more...I stopped paying attention... Seems like the two Jordan Conan stories I know about had the word "Skelos" in the titles. Sword of Skelos? Scrolls of Skelos?I recall my impressions as:"Hmmm. Seems to have gotten Conan wrong. Did he read the other stories?"and"Oh God. Most un-Howard!"(Actually...sort of the same reaction I had to the second Conan movie, Conan the Desecrated.) (As soon as you saw Grace Jones in the movie trailer...well...it was almost as bad as spotting a Wayans brother in a movie. They might as well have put "We don't give a crap about anything but fast cash" in the opening credits. The rest was all downhill. Might as well have had Jar Jar Binks in the movie!)

Badmike wrote:Mark; You are a bit mixed up. Those two books are by Andrew Offutt, who I agree got Conan completely wrong (he semi-rapes a girl in one of the books, totally out of character for the barbarian), and they read like a generic swords and fantasy with "Grolar" as the name of the protagonist replaced by "Conan" so he could make a sale. The Jordan stories aren't great, but they are miles better than the Offutt crap, and sadly probably some of the best of the non-Howard stuff.Mike B.
