When I started this thread I PM'ed Scott about the explosion of interest in the idea.

As I mentioned at the start, I have little time to commit to this prior to the submission of my thesis, but afterwards, I'd love to put some work into it. It would be fun and may indeed draw more people to the Acaeum and the hobby. I guess it is just a question, of people indicating whether they have time to work on this and putting their name forward. Then that group could get together and determine who does what.

The actual editing/proof reading work isn't the hard part. The hard part is material. To run any kind of publication you need more material than you would believe.

Before the first issue is released (if you are planning on a scheduled release) you need enough finished material for two issues. You need writers who can meet deadlines and even when deadlines are 3 months apart you can find them too much for many people to deal with.

Articles need to be submitted, then proofed and edited, then returned to the writer (If they need to be rewritten or if we work this where the writer approves the editing). Then resubmitted, proofed, and given a final editing (and hope that more major changes aren't necessary). Some articles are going to be declined and some articles will need to be slated for future issues.

The key is material.

Right now there is old material that could be (and should be) mined from old postings. Find an interesting old thread. Boil it down into an article or series of articles. Use it for ideas for a new article.

There are a ton of interesting threads. Just looking back a page or two we have:

We should have a convention report, collecting tips, fun finds, industry news and reports, interviews with authors and artists, interviews with big collectors, etc... (though not all in the same issue).

The editing, proof reading is not a problem. Material for each issue is the main concern.

well I'd be happy to proof read. I could contribute on some things, but it kinda depends what is agreed on what should be included.

Perhaps a 'What would you do if..' type page? More brainstorming may be in order.

As for the editorial team picking the name, perhaps if a team volunteers or is chosen, then they offer up the names for a poll by the members here. That way it puts a bit of a limit on the amount of names to poll, but the final choice should be from a majority.  

Just reading back through the thread so far, we have heaps of great ideas for content. I guess for the time being, let's keep this ticking along and anyone who is seriously interested in actually writing material put your name down here.
