I'd suggest that you not issue a "non-payment" complaint against a buyer who had to return the item due to negligent description and was issued a refund for the effort. Obviously, if a refund was given, monies changed hands... that means it was paid for. That still pisses me off.

That's not a slight on you, Crimson et al, but with the TnT reputation around these parts, it strikes me as a lot of talk and not much else.

As I said, some of your prices seem reasonable (some not so much!) but until reliability and shipping is brought in line, I'd not even take a punt on a $10 book unfortunately.

Fair enough, the RPG department at TnT needs more than one person in it, and I opted to go into distribution to handle our orders and talking with publishers. It's a team effort for me and Marshall to improve the department as a whole and as I said months ago it wouldn't be an overnight improvement but it is getting better. After we move to our new bigger building next month I know we are pulling AD&D 2E to finish regrading it.

Fair enough.

Can any members say they have purchased TnT items (i.e White Box, some of the rare items) and been satisfied recently, say in the last 6 months?

Genuine question, not a rhetorical one.  :)

This box set is in excellent shape, straight off the shelf. The insides are pristine, there may be some slight shelf wear. The Box is complete with all inserts that are included present. The box set corners will be intact. There may or may not be original dice in this set. Any specialized dice will be included. This is an excellent copy for your collection.

This Complete box set appears to have been used little, if any. Box and contents are in excellent condition. The dice may not be included. Box and contents may have some edgewear or other minor flaws that might keep it from being Near Mint.

Picture shown is a stock picture of a White Box Set (5th Print) core rules (OD&D RPG). The actual condition is: Good Condition Boxed Set.

Condition: Good Condition Boxed Set
A Box set that's seen more than it's fair share of adventure. Complete, but heavily worn. Box may be crushed, have corners split, or taping. Interior items used and worn, and may have small tears, large creases and/or moderate staining. The dice may not be included. This set isn't "Collector Quality" but would be good for playing.

Ok, 5 minutes of looking at the rare items on your ebay site. Adding things as above (which I entered in bold) turns me right off even thinking about buying.

How on god's green earth can you sell an item for $240+ saying it MAY be crushed, have corners split or taping? MAY have small tears, large creases or moderate staining?? FFS..

Sorry, that is a disregard for customers by not even having the decency to describe an expensive item accurately. For $5 maybe, but for $240? That's just BS.

Yep, I've made about half a dozen T&T purchases in the last six months and their service has been excellent. Had a problem with one item, a copy of JGs City State of the World Emperor and T&T replaced the missing books and maps with a couple of spare parts thrown in. I have bought from their website and through ebay and gave them 5 stars with the ebay purchases on every transaction.

I agree on your points they are currently blanket descriptions keyed to what type of product it is, we are in the process of looking at upgrades for our site, which needs to be redone as a whole. And one thing i'm for and pushing for is License Plating products, so if there are 3 different copies of say Deities & Demigods instock, you can look at the pictures and see exactly what each looks like and a description on it's condition. This won't be implemented soon, we have to wait on our programming department and our reworked site, but for collectible items such as Moxen from MTG, or older RPG items it would be a great thing to have in place.

Sorry, but altho it may be grammatically correct, that word is really poncy  :D

Yeah, having an accurate grading system on items worth a $1000+ or so would be nice  8)

My wife has had considerable problems with your grading of Magic cards in the past - so much so that she would only order stuff to be collected at shows, so she could demand replacements on the spot.

Cheers,

Yeah, if you can't spare the time now to individualize descriptions and take pictures for items over $1,000, I'm not too confident you'll ever get around to doing it for anything else.

If someone is interested in one they can contact customer service and we can provide scans of it.

I will note that I once asked for specific details of some very low end items, and did get an accurate response and then a satisfying order.  It took a couple days to check on my items, but that wasn't too bad.

I think the consensus is that it's best if stock photos are never used and individual descriptions are created.  Yes, that would take more effort and thus slow sales for a time, but it could lead to a restoration of some credibility, and thus could be a good decision long term.

It might slow sales, but how many people are buying $1000+ pieces (or even $250+) sight unseen and with ambiguous descriptions anyway?

It's a little like going to buy a used car for your 16-year-old, and having the salesman say, "That'll be $1,500. It may or may not come with the original tires, may or may not have brakes that need replacing, and has between 50,000 and 150,000 miles on it. Oh, by the way, you can't look at it or test drive it right now, 'cause it's in the back garage and we don't feel like wheeling it out."

Perhaps you just need to consider this. Would you as a buyer, be willing to pay $200-£1000+ for an item with a stock photo and a very, very ambigious description.

Yes, as a buyer, I could contact you for more details. But that is work you will need to do and will delay the sale. Or I may not even bother asking. Therefore, no sale.

If you did it up front on the higher end prices, you'd actually get quicker sales on those items.

Just a thought.  :)

It does not seem to be a priority for them to sell the higher-priced items. If they get some rube to pay 3K for an OB3, then they make money. I'm not saying that they're price gouging, but I thought their focus was more into CCG's than RPG's.

Example:
A couple of years ago, they were trying to sell me a Planescape:Bloodwar boxed set in the original shrink for $180.00 (and that was at their Gencon booth.

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

I think you're right, CCG is their focus. But as a company, I'd want customers happy in purchasing goods. I'd not want to be regularly caned on Forums.

I think they're pretty gutsy to try to deal with the obvious problems...

in an extremely prejudicial thread labeling their 'idiocy'.

Praps the OP could retitle this "fixing T&T" or something?

Agreed that their willingness to discuss the issues publicly is gutsy, though I don't think it's fair to call the complaints "prejudicial" when they arise out of repeated negative shopping experiences which have been brought to the vendor's attention numerous times in the past.

I didn't know that one could retitle a thread. I'll try to figure out how..

EDIT: Done.

I just wanted to chime in and say that Troll and Toad is a preferred vendor for me.  I like their pricing on D20 items and I think that Troll and Toad usually does a good job in their shipping.

I have had a couple of problems, but those were  no different that what I have had with other large dealers of excellent reputation. They got fixed.

I imagine that Troll and Toad has their own warehouse system.  It seems logical to me to assign numbers to products so that confusion about what consitutes a Greyhawk product cannot complicate matters.  It is impossible, for instance, to confuse #4454454 with #4343334 unless you really aren't paying attention.
