For people possibly interested in any projects of mine, there is one I am working on I am calling "The (in)Compleat Guide to Everything" and am here presenting a small sample of the junk that would be in it... final layout would be better than what it is currently:

A system to not only generate values for various gems but also to let the Castle Keeper know, pretty much exactly, what the gem is. I skipped on some elements of realism in favor of game play. I cannot post it directly here because the tables would come out very crappy and my Google Group has been giving me fits... so, instead, you must click this link and agree to download the file. It will be up for unlimited downloads for 99 days and then I either decide to increase the time or I remove it and it goes away.

Please provide feedback. It has been a while since I posted something like this and I'm judging if its worth my hassle.

I don't figure it deserves its own thread and I doubt there is much interest.

So the PCs can chill out with Papers And Paychecks, but no such "fantasy gaming" permitted to Deities and Demigods?

Alright, thanks. File has been removed. I will not bother with pursuing anything along these lines -- there is simply not enough interest (combined from all places it was mentioned) to make my time worth wasting.

Rereading Terry Brooks' Sword of Shannara (haven't read it in years). I can't believe how bad it is. I read it when it first came out and liked it. I'm only on page 30 but the dialogue between Allanon (Gandalf) and Shea (Frodo) is abysmal. Post apocalyse medieval fantasy characters talking about 'isolationist policy', 'central government' and 'political activism'? I must have skipped over this crap when I was reading it as a teenager.

I have heard that the other books in the series are not as good. If I can make it through this one I will give them a try, but this is a major disappointment.

Now, I reread Patrica McKillips Riddlemaster trilogy a week ago and that was incredible. Didn't care for it as a teenager, I'd like to go back in time and slap some sense into my head.

Read first couple of Shaanara years ago, never bothered with the rest as I thought they were TOO sub-Tolkien.

Read about 8 or so? WoT, and gave up on those as well.

Can thoroughly recommend A game of thrones series tho - very un-typical. Apparently HBO is gonna do the first "adult fantasy miniseries" using AGOT as a basis. Got sean bean as Lord Eddard Stark.
