Judging by the over 50 questions sent to the seller, I'm sure this mint Chainmail 1st will set the record.

I'd say distasteful and embarassing to read. Immature, petty and pretty contemptable too. I remember slapping guys around in grade school who liked to humiliate and harrass other kids.

This isn't gradeschool but it is a public forum. Choosing to harass this women publicly is not just wrong, regardless of the reasons, it is mighty stupid.

You do realise that my question to her was a joke, albeit one primarily for the benefit of the members here?

I don't feel that I have done her (presumably) any harm. In fact she was happy to publically answer my question, though seemingly ignores others - perhaps this was because, ultimately, the answer to my question will increase the final value of her auction.

And yes, for the record I am sometimes petty and immature, even stupid on occasions. The contempt bit is entirely in your hands, though I feel that I am probably thick skinned enough to live with your disdain (unless you still go for the slapping around thing of course  )

The seller is the very definition of a "Shady Dealer"...and having said that, discussion probably should have been to that thread.  Sorry about expanding the details here, it should have really been confined to that arena, I agree.

However, I stand by everything I said, I'm not one single iota of an atom worried about someone busting me for "cyberbullying", and if you come right down to it our highlighting of the seller's items may have even added to her final prices being as high as they were, considering the misleading descriptions did NOT mention the items are incomplete.  I predict a lot of negs/neutrals in the seller's future, as some very unhappy buyers get their incomplete RPG items.

The point of the Shady Dealer's section is to highlight dealers that may or are involved in questionable transactions....and shining a light on them so potential buyers are warned.  There is a huge difference between someone who is legitimately confused or overwhelmed by the RPG world (and this bunch has shown to be very helpful when it comes to assisting someone ASKING for help); and someone who is deliberately and willfully selling crap to make a buck.  Sorry, but that kind of person will ALWAYS get a groin kick from me and I make zero apologies.  The "victims" of the harrassment are welcome to come to this forum to defend themselves...and many have over the years, usually to their detriment, but in particular I remember the Titan games folks gamely defending their practices in the face of a lot of hostility.  It might not have entirely changed my opinions of them, but I must admit they had my respect for making the effort.

That's the end of my comments here...I'll take future discussion in this vein to the Shady Dealers thread.

Damn straight.

I finally find a 4th edition OD&D set about thirty minutes after it's listed (though the box is trashed and I was hesitant), I see the Chainmail, sigh, and write to the seller asking how many pages. I wait, and wait.  The more I wait the more I'm sure it's a 1st edition.  Now it's confirmed:  I'll watch the bloodbath and wait some more  :(

The seller mentions this fact with in his 3rd update, before he mentions the Acaeum forums.

I doubt it. Lofenloc or TFM will snipe with a $10k bid, and it will be over. No bloodbath.

Dont forget about increment.  You would think both TFM and lofenloc already have enough copies of the 1st edition, 1st print Chainmail that they wouldn't need another one.  But I guess the disease is just more advanced in some people.

Sorry, but there is no chance of TFM getting it if Lance wants it. What Lance wants, Lance gets. That rule is unbreakable.
I'd peg it at around $1,600.

The item next to the fiend folio looks like the interior map pages of a module.

Not one I'm familiar with offhand. There were just a number that had those red background inner map pages.

If it offers any encouragement, I'll be sitting this one out anyway.
