I think the trouble is that the proper # is an unknown quantity.
I think your comment is kinda in keeping with me saying 50 is a good #. What's the difference if the number is increased to 75 and then someone comes along and says that s/he wants one? Then your logic dictates that we make more? Or is 75 the proper # because you think 75 is a good amount

By unlimited, I mean that you make them on demand for anyone who wants one. This solves a lot of problems here and then you're only left with the part where nobody will pay $50 for an unlimited print and then you need to sell enough copies (probably over 1K which no-one will ship) to cover costs.

OK Please add me to that wait list too, that will make it 21.  There are quite a few longtime member names that I recognize there that have been buying & collecting for awhile.  When the list reaches 25 I'm going to propose that rather than "waiting" we can all commit  $100 and start another commission!  It's certainly doable from the names on that list.

At that point anyone else is also free to join, including the "lucky 50" if they want.  But the price is still $100 ...it means Otus' commission will climb the more people join, and he can produce something really special.  We can also "pad it", meaning if we have 100 interested (for example), we'll bank on only 75 or 80 coming through in the end, that way we can work with a solid $$$ amount and the project doesn't get derailed because of finances.  If we have more solid commitment then some of the extra will be used to buy extra prints (in case of mailing mishaps), and the rest will be distributed back to all participants at then end.  When and if we get 50 participants, we'll announce a 30 day close.  Or we will announce a 30 day close after 30 days! Whichever comes first!

Sounds like a plan to me!

Cheers!

I agree, it's a logical, rational and scrupulous plan. It seems you have thought things through. If useful, you can add my name to YOUR list as many times as necessary to start the ball rolling and see if there is any interest. Then replace my name each time another member shows interest until you have a solid 25.

David, surely you are on the list by now? Several people dropped out didn't they?

I'm curious about the dropouts too... shouldn't the lists be updated to reflect these?

Or am I missing something?

And another thing, if I drop out, can I decide who gets my place on the list?

Actually, I was thinking I'd put Jessica Biel on the list.

Really?  I would have thought Miley Cyrus was the obvious choice for a celebrity participant.   Still - makes for a tough choice.  Perhaps a lottery....

benjoshua wrote:We now have 50 different people requesting a copy of this limited edition, Erol Otus print!  Wow! 8O

Remember, we are only ordering 50 copies. Unless someone drops out and no one takes their place, no one will be getting two copies.  People interested should continue to register their interest on this thread as that will be the basis for creating a waiting list as it is likely someone will not be able to financially follow-through on their commitment.  This list is not likely the basis for determining who gets what print number.

The list I have, in the order of their registered interest:

1. Benjoshua
2. Mars
3. smarmy1
4. le Rahib
5. bombadil
6. misterspock
7. simrion
8. grodog
9. PaulKM
10. mdr003
11. Badmike
12. Gyg
13. jasonw1239
14. stratochamp
15. dbartman
16. carrejo
17. Serleran
18. Rakeesh sah Tarna
19. mbassoc2003
20. Center_Stage
21. Kingofpain89
22. deimos3428
23. Prufrok
24. Yaya
25. Tharizdun
26. FoulFoot
27. Grug Greyskin
28. Blackmoor
29. AdderMcOne
30. lawrenson
31. JohnGaunt
32. The Collector's Trove
33. Ekim Toor
34. Phaedran
35. jonjhargreaves
36. bbarsh
37. Nice Hantlers
38. ScketreWhisp
39. ExTSR
40. JasonZavoda

44. dsaunders
45. Aneoth
46. Deogolf
47. Rabbit_67
48. Bracton
49. Avurax

So just to clarify, if your name is on the list you get a print right?

Not unless you also pay the funds needed to obtain one, when the funds are needed.

The list was never anything but the FIRST step in the EO Projects time line.
