To valuation experts here : an idea of the good price for this item ?

I could be interested to bid, but apart form the valuation table on Acaeum ($506 VG, $632 in Fine condition), I do not know the actual market price of such a print.

No expert... but.
That copy looks a bit worn.
Front cover shows plenty of wear and back cover has a one inch tear.
However the module inside looks fine with no staple rust, and no writing.
Even in this economy I do not think the prices you stated are out of line for this rare an item.
If I was in the market for a used copy, I would pay that much for this one and perhaps a little more.
I would not bid more than $750 though and that only if I was really wanting a copy badly.

Of course I have long thought the valuations stated here for this item were very low.
Especially for Near Mint Shrink Wrapped copies. :wink:

This seller is going to have some problems. The same 1st print DMG in two separate auctions. (Note the markings and wear near the banner).

And someone asked that question about the 2 DMG's (one the one auction selling the DMG and PHB). He says he has multiple copies of the DMG, but it's still tacky that he's using the same picture...

Tacky isnt the word I'd user to describe using a different picture to sell an item. Ebay violation comes to mind, little good that it seems to do anymore.

From the back that module looks good. My copy of MV1 in shrink has the seam but from certain angles you cant see it. From the front it looks like it is in a bag with extra plastic sticking up over the top. Could just be bad pictures.

Early printing of Monster Manual -

2 things,

I have found that when this seller talks about wear he means it, so ask specific questions about condition.

Second, pin him down about packaging. He will package items well but he will also dump them unprotected into mailers. I think all you need to do is explain in detail how you want your item packaged (but the last couple of months have seemed to be the season for sellers really screwing up packing no matter what you tell them).

I usually expect that something expressed as 'x-condition' considering it's age to be worse than what 'x-condition' is deemed by the seller.

I've also noticed 3rd print MMs go very cheap these days. I've bought/sold for $10 or less plus shipping several times in recent months. But that's purely auction-style. BINs might be better for now.
