Gus and Blackmoor make good points.

Why are we clinging to the number of 50 so tightly? The only real reason could be for the "lucky fifty" to have all the more rare of a piece... this is hardly in the spirit of "community".

The advocates for increasing the number are only suggesting a one-time increase to a number that would include the current waiting list; 20-25 more at the most. I'm sure by now all truly interested Acaeum members have read this thread and have made their decision.

C'mon guys, let's spread the love and make one final bump in the number. You know people will be PSYCHED! :D And that is good for this community.

If anybody bails out you can auction off the remainders to finance the next endeavor or the book that has been suggested or give it to the site or give Erol the remaining profit as a tip or what have you. :P

And that will be that... everybody wins.

Hey guys, sorry, I didnt mean to make a big deal of this....I agree that if someone just signs up to get the print then thats absolutely wrong.

My point is what happens after that....what number of posts is sufficient ? 10...20 ???

The EO committee has done alot of work to get the ball rolling....I wholly accept their judgment, and know that this is the start of future great projects for all of us...

Everybody wins except the committee members you mean.  They are the ones that have to keep putting up with all of the nonsense and complaining.  Twenty pages on this thread already and half of it is bitching about the number of copies or who decides who gets the first print.  And I cant imagine how many PM's have been sent to committee members about the same thing.

I am all for everyone being able to get a print that wants one.  But enough is enough already!  Your points have been duly noted.  If the committee changes their mind and ups the count to 75 or 100, that is fine with me.  For some people it apparently isnt fine and they want it to be kept at 50.  I wont speculate as to why, they have their reasons.

Let the committee members do the job that they volunteered to do and take the whining and bickering someplace else.

What?! That's preposterous. This is a thread on a forum where people post, to complain and wax nostalgic, cheer and get excited and this project was brought here precisely for and knowing this very audience. Not to mention this discussion has been ENCOURAGED by the committee on several occasions...

So how do they lose? Because they appeal to a broader base still within the confines of this awesome, little community and make those people happy? If they didn't want a public discussion (with or without complaining) they could have just contacted their fellow "friends" and old-timers here on this forum and been done with it. Instead we are having an open "transparent" debate as to the best way to make this happen...

And I cant imagine how many PM's have been sent to committee members about the same thing.

I haven't sent a single PM to the committee in regards to this.

I wont speculate as to why, they have their reasons.

I will, and have... see my other posts. But This is a small group here at the Acaeum... even if every contributing member gets one of these it will still be a special thing. To want to limit to the first-come-first-served can ONLY be for selfish reasons. I feel that It's been made obvious that printing enough to make all "listed" would be a great benefit.

Let the committee members do the job that they volunteered to do and take the whining and bickering someplace else.

Where to? This is a DISCUSSION FORUM. And I'm pretty sure I'm in the right thread. I don't whine about my phone bill to the grocery store clerk...

On a side note... if I can help in any way with my 15 years of printing and manufacturing experience the committee is more than welcome to solicit my help. I have literally dozens contacts for printing... from image capture facilities to graphic designers to Offset, Screen and even letter-press printers.

I'm sorry I could not be more present and active early on, but I am here now.

Cheers,
D

I gotta agree with TheMilford.
This thread IS the place to have discussions, and every one should be entitled to express their concerns and views.

I was generalizing....not singling you out, but maybe I didnt make that very clear.

I gotta agree with TheMilford. This thread IS the place to have discussions, and every one should be entitled to express their concerns and views.

I never said it wasnt the place to have discussions.  But I am seeing very few actual discussions lately.  All I see is people keep rehashing the same complaints over and over begging for the committee to change their stance and stating how the current project status isnt fair.  Cmon....how many times does someone need to say the same thing?  I am pretty sure the committee understands by now that not everyone is happy with the current state of things.  But for some reason there are people that seem to think that if they keep doing this:  "Maybe if I post one more time about how unfair it is they will change their minds."

Or maybe we need another poll.  Yeah...that will help.  :?

Guys;

Post count is not a factor.  There are plenty of the people here who may not post a lot, and that is irrelevant with anything. If someone has a low post count, but they have been registered a long time, that is sufficient for me (especially since to get on the list they had to have been logging in reading messages pretty regularly).  Not everyone contributes to the community in the same way, and because they aren't a long winded post whore like me, Bclarkie or Killjoy doesn't mean they aren't "worthy".  :D

If you look over the list, I have identified exactly THREE who seemed to have ONLY signed up here with what appears to be in the hope of getting a print...and ALL three are on the wait list. Ok, guys, THREE names.  I don't think this is an issue, it's a bit of a straw man, so although we encourage the discussion as long as it's civil (this is really a silly issue to bump heads about), the issue of whether or not everyone "deserves" to be on the list is really a NON-issue, and it needs to be left out of the discussions because it really isn't relevant.

(I have also identified one name that seems to have taken pains to delibertly REMOVE himself from this community, and IMO should be bounced off the list because of this, but that's another issue I have to discuss with the committee).

Guys, removing yourself from the list is very noble and all, but please don't do so unless it's something you WANT to do....you aren't proving anything to me or anyone else by doing so.  But we are all grownups here and if that is your wish ok.

Please keep it civil I'm happy we have had this much discussion without a flame war breaking out.  We read everything here and it's far better to let it out into the open than let it simmer and burn....honestly you aren't hurting our feelings, we are all adults.

I'm hoping that after some talk amongst ourselves I can get Chris or Paul or Allan to post on some specific points some of you have made.

Back to the discussion!

Dangit Mike! I was hoping to impress you. Now I'll have to do it in person at NTRPG Con. Have you ever seen a grown man in a Peter Pan costume?

Seriously, though, go ahead and remove me. If there's need of money to cover the minimum order at a later date, I'd be happy to pitch back in at that time. I doubt that will be an issue, though!

Sorry for the flip remark, but it's the best I could come up with on the spur of the moment.  I could have better stated that, I agree...but the remark wasn't meant to insult. Should have thrown a smiley face in.
