Well, some people know where Dave is(it's really not much if a secret anymore, he drives a Cab somewhere outside of Chicago), but from all reports, he has completely resisted/ignored any and all attempts to even speak about his past in the RPG industry.  

I suspect that's what Joe is talking about.

Yes, as most guarantee cards only cover a limited sum, banks will charge for a draft - £25 sounds about right.  I would also just use the cash - or possibly, and this depends upon your bank I think - they could do a direct bank transfer.  Though they may charge for that too (they certainly will for a same day service).

Dave:

Take a day off (OK perhaps Two days, or just do this Friday after work).
Buy a ONE-WAY ticket on a public bus, to get the bike. (Whats that cost? 10-15 pounds?).
Meet with the seller and ask for permssion to borrow it for a short time.
Check it out (Or have a certified mechanic do so for you) and if good to go, Pay CASH for the bike IN PERSON, and then just Fill it up with petrol and Ride the bike back home.
If carrying that much cash worries you then buy some Travelors Checks, or go to the sellers bank and do an electronic transfer directly from your bank to his.

Save 200 pounds (Pick-up/Delivery and Bank fee).
Buy some D&D stuff with your savings.
