oh thats cool! they havent put the floor plan up yet, but i think i know where youre gonna be - john...won't his stall be by Lou's and your sci-fi hero from last year?

if it is, thats cool...a good area to be, as goodman games were around there as well! a LOT of folk meandered around that way.

but then i guess egor won't be quite in the same place again or will he?

Hi,

Goodman Games is really close to us as well.

If you imagine coming in thru the entrance by the Art Show, walking straight ahead, go past the art show (which is on your right) then we are on your left.
Carry on walking past us to get to Crazy Egors.

We're right on a main thoroughfare. I'm really pleased with that  :D
I was a bit afraid we'd get stuck in a lonely corner somewhere!

Now, where is the Auction shop usually held please?

Cheers,
Malc

Oh, and no PPP this year, by the look of it.

Anyone who wants a hall plan, please drop me an EMAIL (not a PM) and I'll send it to you.

Cheers,
Malc

hey malc....sounds like you are near where the dwarven forge stall was last year....right in the centre slightly off to the right. good spot. there was a hive of activity there.

auction shop. right opposite the main hall (if you go out the main doors into the cafeteria section in the middle, head off down the corridor to the left) is the auction room, connected to there, is the auction shop. you can walk between one and the other inside the rooms (they are connected in one big room)

it might sound confusing, but it really is simple. :)

you can't miss it.

hey malc

i notice that opposite egors, is a large "card" stall....could be into the same sorta stuff you are, so your missus might be in for some stiff competition if thats the case :D

Malc,

I was going to pm you saying that as I have seen some of your inventory, I think you will do quite well at the convention.  I really do not remember seeing to much stuff that was similar last year.  However, I'm not an expert on gaming material at all.

Hiya,

thanks for the comments.

Al, my Missus doesnt intend to bring many cards at all - the Dollar-Pound ratio combined with the sheer weight of such goods has put her off. She'll be bringing some Magic misprints - but these are things which its unlikely anyone else will have.

Martin - thanks - I've gone for a good mix of stuff. I'm bringing mainly D&D related, so wanted a good mix or other games as well.

So folks, who are the other 2nd=hand rpg sellers in the hall then?

Theres Crazy Egor, Troll and Toad, and ... ?

Cheers,
malc

you will see a smattering around the hall barring them two, but there arent many malc at all. its mostly newer genre stuff.

lou zocchi last year had some stuff, but a lot of stuff was like 3e etc.

dunno about this time. maybe grodog will know some of the names and maybe give you a good idea.

Al

ps. troll & toad are incredibly expensive, so doubt they are in direct competition so to speak.....undercut them and youre laughing. egor just has a massive variety...some cheaper some a lot more expensive, but a great variety of stuff.

Malc you could charge your full price on your rares and still be half what T&T charged...trust me you'll do well in head to head with them.  When we cruised through their booth last year, there were lots of lookers, and a few laughers (mostly us laughing at the prices), but I personally didn't see one single thing purchased there.

I think Nobleknight is supposed to be there this year...wasn't the reason they didn't attend last year because of the big buyout of Titan Games? With that in the rearview mirror I'm sure they will be able to make it to Gencon this year.

Egor has some sheer volume.  I'll be honest here and say probably 75% of his stuff is way overpriced.  But the fun of it was looking through box after box and finding a few treasure nuggets (the Ironhoof Highlands and some low print run magazines I found last year come to mind).  Plus Egor and his wife are really nice people. But if you are bringing the unique items I think you are Malc you won't have a lot of competition.

I was actually quite suprised as one could have made some nice money dealing in older RPG items at a reasonable price.....

yeah, thats weird.

Most UK rpg conventions of any size have a 2nd-hand dealer. Theres been times when 3 or 4 of us turn up.

Saying that, there arent many large Used dealers at Spiel either - it tends to be just bits.

Malc

Whatever T&T is doing they seem to be doing it right:

Troll & Toad buys $150,000 boardgame collection

Excerpt: "TrollandToad.com spokesman Ryan Severin says the acquisition is the largest in the company's 17 years of doing business. It has 75 employees and had sales of $5 million last year."
