I guess I just like mine tighter...   :wink:  the bags I have now are not quite 8.75" more like 8.625" so I figured the extra 1/8" would be enough. But now you have me worried. Maybe I should have ordered both... for the larger ones.

Which brand and size are you using? I tried the 9" x 11.5" 5mm thick ones from BCW and the modules are an absolute perfect fit. Nice and snug with no way they would slide around in there and get dinged up. There is less than 1/4" on each side for play room.

The only thing I can think of is maybe you used the 7mm or 10mm thickness, which WOULD allow for the module to slide around in there, but the 5mm ones I bought for samples are a perfect fit.

The other think is the Gerber boards only come in 8.625" (8 5/8") wouldn't that be a little small for the 9-inchers?

Ok, got my order...

875M2s are a little too snug for Monochromes and some of the larger cut Mods. They are perfect for 1980+ rulebooks where you are not using a backer-board.

I will probably sell the extra 50 (still sealed) Mylite2 8.75" x 11.5" for cheap here to cover costs... Any takers? $15 shipped anywhere in the US...

Anyway.

The 1013R sample they sent me DOES fit the DMG. however, it is 4mil so it doesn't conform about the edges nicely. I imagine the Mylite2 10x13 (1013M2 - 2mil) would work perfectly.

These Half-Backs are TWICE AS THICK as any other brand backer board I have used. VERY NICE.

I had a few of the 9" (900M2) hangin' around and I don't like that the backer doesn't fill the bag all the way (only 8.625 wide). I'm thinking about custom ordering some 8.75" x 11.5" Half-Backs to use. It should only be around $17 for 100.

Also, it sounds like a bunch of folks might want the 10x13 sized bags for their hardbacks... They are $23 for 50 with a $10 shipping charge. maybe we should go in on an order? Not sure how that would work.

Oh and this 1013R is PERFECT for my Greyhawk Folio!

I'm sure you can recoup your costs for the smaller bags.  Plenty of comic collectors out there.

Gerber's half backs do rock, I agree.

By not fitting nicely around the edges of the DMG, do you mean the mylar is a bit stretched, or the edges don't line up?  Sorry, just trying to get a picture of the fit, or lack of fit.  Looks like I'll be sticking with the 2mil.  

Gerber's 8 5/8 x 11 1/2 half-backs are sized, in my opinion, to prevent the mylar seam from being stressed (I've no idea if mylar rips easily) and to keep the module in the center of the sleeve.  As I mentioned, I have a good border around each normal sized module and they do not shift.

Ok so, funny stuff...

I realize now that E. Gerber accidentally sent me Full Backs when I ordered Half Backs a few weeks back... because I just ordered some more stuff last week and the larger (custom sized) Half Backs the boards are a LOT thinner than the other 50 boards I got two weeks ago.

So I have now 9" 2-mil bags with custom-made 8 3/4" Backs... These backs are nice for most modules as they help to fill out the bag to the corners just a little more... thus protecting corners from bends a little better... also the contents slide around less than before... I just wish I knew that what I had previously gotten were Full Backs cause I would have like them to be thicker... I think the best combo would be the 9" Mylites2 bags with 8.75" FUll Backs.

So if anybody wants to try these slightly larger Backers I can sell or trade you 25 or 50 of these for basically what I paid. I'm keeping 50 for myself for eBay stuff and places where I want a thinner board but the rest I would like to get rid of. PM me if interested.

I've been looking at purchasing from E Gerber, but I just wanted to double check with anyone else who's using the 10x13's for the manuals.

Does anyone know whether the 1013R (4mm) is too snug for say the DMG? Or is the 1013M2 (2mm) the way to go without that splitting issue? I was even considering getting one size larger.  I didn't want to have to jam in some of the delicate 1st prints :)

I was planning on ordering a sizeable amount of various sizes, including the larger-sized 4mm archives for a bunch of art.  I haven't ordered from E Gerber before, but it took several emails through their contact page and a couple of voice messages to get them to call back.  Isn't it weird that they don't have an order system set up on their website? Do you guys just fax them your item list with their product numbers?

I called them and placed an order with a nice lady.

Shipping is a $10-min so it might start making sense for some of us in the same areas to piggy-back orders.

The 4mil bag was a little snug on the DMG due to the stiffness of the mylar. I would recommend 2mil.

Thanks for letting me know. Their prices seemed to be really good, and with all the recommendations, I figured I'd try them out.
