Why 'without' the cover? What's the deal with the card cover to Jade Hare, and why is it not accepted as legit or a rarity? I don't know the history or legitimacy of this item.

cover treated here as if genuine release but was inhouse production + never intended for public distribution or sale. more mockup art than anything else
compare with orange b3 bulk printed + boxed ready to sell to public but recalled
jade hare cover has value to some but better imo to see as intended + know $$ spent other good stuff

Find the level of academic information to be quite lacking online. Would have thought that sort to titbit would have a place here on Acaeum?

Yep, that's the one. The pre-auction estimates were pretty far off base, probably because no one had any idea what this stuff would go for. As a general rule, multiplying the pre-auction estimate by anywhere from 3 to 10 would give you a good approximation of the final sale price.

So let's see if I can figure out how to post pictures. First, just the desk.

To give you a sense of scale, now with yours truly behind it.

And finally, with my collection of rares. Not quite as extensive as Blackmoor's (or any number of others on the forum), but I'm working on it. :lol:

if i had to guess, i think the printed page might be from an ed greenwood run event that bracton played in appx. 25 years ago. on the back of the table in the third picture is a jem hadar phase rifle from deep space 9 that bracton also picked up at the christies auction. there were three in the lot actually, but i presume the one in the picture here was the "hero model" which lights up (undoubtedly used by someone in a speaking role in the foreground of a scene).... thank you Bracton, for acquiescing and posting these great pics! but where are the samurai swords ? :-)

No suprise, bclarkie got it right; those are my Judges Guild Dungeon Tac Cards (second print; still looking for a first . . . .) As did stratochamp. It's an adventure that Ed Greenwood ran at GenCon back in 1984, called Into the Forgotten Realms. He gave copies to each of the players. I brought it to GenCon last year, and strato tracked Ed down so I could get it signed.

i should have mentioned that the desk is painful to use. there is a mesh overlay that is sure to do at least a d4 of damage to any untrained user who sits at it. that's why bracton had to keep his protective plastic bags underneath his items to display them...

I spied the Minas Tirith "bookend" from The Return of the King DVD set on the bookcase on the right. I remember trying to get the Minas Morgul bookend right after the movie came out on DVD. They were already sold out within a week.

Two questions though. 1) Does the lantern at the top left pose any special significance? And 2) No pictures of the single-malt collection?

I'm a lawyer, and years ago I worked on a deal involving Coleman. They gave lanterns to members of the deal team as a closing "gift". They did tell us that some of the lanterns they used were "irregulars", so that it would be best not to actually use them. :cry:

My single malt collection stays pretty small at all times, as bottles seem to disappear just as quickly as I collect them. :lol:
