Oh I love it when people edit their posts after a reply to them.

Saying,"it's at the Rathskeller or whatever" wouldn't be condescending and attempting to answer my question, perhaps not realizing that I didn't know what state it was in or what event it was related to. Saying, "check the top of your page" is akin to saying, "duh" and you damn well know it.

I have a feeling that if the thread was titled "Acaeum Dinner At The Rathskeller in Indianapolis During GenCon on Wednesday" you would still feel the need to ask a stupid question.  And even when the man stated that he meant no insult you still had to whine and complain like a six year old instead of just letting it go.

So sorry if you feel like you are being slighted here but this is an internet forum....not some support group.  If you dont like it I am pretty sure no one here will give a shit.

This must be why Ritchie Blackmore is no longer in Deep Purple, why Michael Schenker is no longer in UFO, why Mantas and Abaddon are no longer with Venom.  Damn the Internet and the jerkiness.

DnDGeek,

I'm sorry you have had a "crappy" week.  Maybe because of this "crappy" week your viewing something as condescending when it was not.  Anyway this has gone to far.  Just forget about it.  We will too.  Start again in another thread.

Obviously no one sees my side, but I'm honestly one of the nicest guys you could meet. I just don't like people who feel they can be condescending just because they have the buffer of the internet between them. I speak the same way, in person or on the internet. Love the site, but now I'm probably tagged as "that guy". Great.

wow!

hey guys i really am still quite envious because i cant make GenCon this time round.

me being over in the UK. with my scrappy knowledge of the US, i still managed to find the Rathskeller easily enough. one other thing too, most ppl you pass, will likely know where it is too, so i doubt for one second there would be any difficulty finding it either way. i am sure that any restaurant or shop or even the info people at GenCon would know where it is, IF you couldnt find it here and now googling it.

please all, lets calm this off and get back to the topic at hand. DnD.... i've known Tim a few years now and met him a few times - he's a great guy and a lot of fun to chat with. knowing him, i doubt for one second he was doing anything untowards.

i read what he replied....and what i read was.... well, look at the top of the page.

whoever goes is very lucky. GenCon is a total blast, a lot of fun, a great experience, mix with some great people and to spend some time with other folk equally as geeky about D&D as you are.

how can that be a bad thing? well unless youre kingofpain that is...one dodgy dude  :P

kingofpain,

I checked with the Rathskeller and they do carry out to 49 states.  Guess which one they do not send carry out to.   8)

Eh...no biggie.  I really just wanted the beer.  Can't get it in the Dallas area that I am aware of.  I plan on going to a local German restaurant the same day as the Acaeum dinner and having some jagerschnitzel and a few beers and calling in sick to work the next day.  :D

I guess I'll just stop answering...
I had no intent to start off this insane round of screw yous and threatened ass whuppin's.

DnDGeek: Did it not occur to you that maybe the reason so many people jumped to my defense is because they saw no slight, either?

Believe me, when I'm in the wrong, they let me know just as quickly, which is one of the reasons I come over here now and again. We generally respect each other on this site, and can disagree as gentlemen, or ladies, without  seeing insult where none exists and throwing a hissy fit. I have a 118 page thread on Dragonsfoot that is often much less civil than this.

No way, Tim. Don't allow a simple misunderstanding push you to the point of non-responsiveness. We all, or most of us, enjoy what you have to say. Looking forward to the next article in Crusader, by the way.

I didn't mean I'd stop talking, just not attempt to be helpful to strangers anymore.

Hey Tim,

I derive my opinions from my own observations and experience. I don't base them on the opinions of others. I don't know you well enough to be sure of what you meant by your comment, but after meeting you at Gary Con (and now realizing it was you I was sparring with), it only reinforces my opinion because (and I'm sure I'll get slammed again for this too), I found gaming with you to be less than a pleasure. You berated me several times, despite trying to be as humble and understanding as I could be during the game and I never said a callous word back to you. I found everyone else there to be a pleasure to be around and made lots of new friends there that I've been communicating with since, so I don't think the problem was with me. If you meant to be helpful, great, but you'll have to forgive me if I don't apologize. Let me just close by saying that, if it were a misunderstanding, it was a miniscule one and I didn't take that much offense by it, hence the light-handed return jibe. I took much more offense to the ensuing posts. See you around.

Well now... If you didn't have a good time, what can I say? If you recall, before (both of them) I pointed out that I was "getting back into" serious DM'ing, and that what I was going to expose you to was going to be something very likely different from what you did before.

I never "berated" (to scold; rebuke) anyone in either one. I certainly verbally challenged a number of you to think outside the box, I definitely teased a few of you, and I remember all of us having a few laughs in both.

Now, if you were in the early game, where the sign-up was filled but we couldn't find all of them, and then some left or wandered off, and then the mapper quit and left because he didn't know how to map very well (to be fair to him, he was sort of cajoled into it by the rest of you), then, yeah, I can see how you might not have enjoyed it that much. But hey, I didn't cause any of those problems, and tried several times to get his map re-oriented.

I chivvied (only a little), I chided ( a couple of times), but I don't think I ever berated anyone. I certainly bantered some, baited a little and jibed a skosh while joshing a tad and vexing frequently.

You know, I don't remember who you could possibly be; if I had done as you claim, surely I would.
