It didnt. Not even close.

Maybe I should have claimed T&T offered $10k. Then the price of them all would go up a lot.

Cheers,
Malc

1.  as advertised. Not, unfortunately, as sold. Quite considerably less. I will not advise the price, but Blackmoor can attest to that.

2  I was  offered 4k for it by T&T on dealer setup (which is why I said 4200). As stated in the above post, I refused to sell it to them. I decided I would rather take a considerably lower offer to see it with a good home with a collector, and that it what I did. Also see above post.

Obviously, this selling it at a much lower price makes me mercenary, apparently.  8O

I did eventually accept a the $100 they offered me for a softback MM, but you can buy them on Ebay for $20...  and I had it on the stall all weekend at $40 and no-one bought it. However, I guess NOW they are worth $100, as T&T has paid that, right?

Cheers,
Malc

That was much more informative than the picture and the links posted before.
And it is more in line with what I requested a few posts back.
Thank you very much.
And No, I dont truly have any right and no need to know the final sales price for the ST1 that was being advertised at $4,200......
But my question seems to have been answered nontheless.

There are in fact no confirmed sales at $4k ++ for any ST1.
(As far as you know anyway)
Although one was turned down at that amount (To T&T).

BTW: I dont blame you for turning down the merc... re-sellers at T&T.
In your place I would like to think I would have been so resolved.
But I have to admit, I doubt I could have done what you did.....

I would have been thinking that $4,200 would buy a LOT of very nice rare RPG collectables that right now I could never afford to even touch. :oops:

$3,500 would ALSO buy a lot of nice stuff.......

In that case, congrats to you both.

Malc was quite fair to me.  Love the SW'd UK2. I had been looking for one in that condition forever.

I'm glad you were able to come to GenCon!  Still can't believe that you lugged all those items with you.

Keep on digging for those lost ST1s!

Quite the same here.  I was able to work a deal with Malc before GenCon for a couple of rare items.  The prices were very fair and I picked up another nice item in his store while I was there.  He and his wife even trusted me enough that they let me take the items home before paying for them because of the mess that my bank made with my ATM card (I would have purchased a bit more otherwise).  Stupid bank.  :?

I have had great dealings with Carl in the past.

I am not really sure what this all has to do with this thread, but I figured I'd just pile on the praise which is where it looks like this thread is going now. Maybe it's for the better that way.

Malc, I don't know you either (as with gyg), but to be fair I'd have to say maybe you're just a fucker too.  Or maybe you're a nice guy, or at least a heck of a re-seller.

But what was the original intent with this thready anyway?  You wanted opinions, and you got them, whether they were the kind you were looking for or not.  Calling David out was pointless and asinine.  Not to mention juvenile.  What difference does it make to you what internet id he posts under?  If you were looking for sympathy after gyg's attempts to "undermine" you, I doubt you'll find it now.

Sheesh, what a waste.

The keyword in the two above posts (mine and dbartman's) is "fair".  Seems like at the beginning of the thread a few people were trying to make an argument that all Malc was out to do was rip someone off.  All I was trying to do (and I assume the same with dbartman) was even the scales a bit to make sure that anyone who read the thread knew that Malc is a fair guy.  I'm not taking anyone's side but it seems that there is at least one or more people here that hold a considerable grudge against someone else for some past infraction(s).

Malcolm started this thread and he did so with no other purpose than to criticize Gyg.  As soon as someone didn't view it the same way, it got even more personal.  Again, I am not trying to take sides here, but lets be honest here, this thread sucks.

Are you kidding?  I'm winning here, big time.  The price of ST1 is dropping like a stone with all this negative hype.  Pretty soon I'll score one for $5.  :lol:

Wow!

Don't read the site for a weekend and looks what happens.

lawrenson

Here is an answer to your original post and this reply is based on my initial thoughts before I read everybody else's replies.

In my opinion, yes that is bad manners and I would be upset if someone did that to me.

Now, being the anal septic American that I am. I had to read everybody else's reply and then read your thread on ukroleplayers.com. Here are my thoughts after reading all of it.

What gyg did was bad manners, but what you are doing is nothing but a premeditated, underhanded and vindictive attack on a different site.

Your cutting and pasting of gyg comments and the deletion of the emoticons from the original reply on ukroleplayers.com is nothing but a blatant attempt to twist the comment to suit your post.

If you where really upset about this, why didn't you post a link so that an informed opinion could be provided.

I think you where just looking for a fight and tried to pick it at the wrong site.

Please leave any disputes or issues from another site on that site. Bringing it here just makes you look like a vindictive person.

But what disgusts me the most is all of the vindictive replies. It seems that every few weeks people here go on the attack and start flame wars. I think at these times I have mistakenly logged on to a USINET group.

I sincerely hope that the members who have admin  authority will start shutting these garbage threads down when they start.

These have been my thoughts and opinions. Take them however you want.

bombadil wrote:Another bit of advice:  forget about the ST1.  I owned one for a while, a pretty nice copy at that.  It's a total piece of shit.  Worthless adventure, terrible writing, boring, dull, sub-normal, insulting to average intelligence, poorly illustrated, and, worst of all, incredibly

british.

Lawl!

Seriously, the angst we get here over some of the biggest piece-of-shit, boring-ass, useless items ... it just boggles the mind. I fall to my knees every day to thank God that I've (mostly) managed to avoid It Must Be Mine Syndrome.

There's not going to be any winners here, guys, and this is too small of a community to support this level of flaming for long. So why doesn't everyone take a deep breath and remember those things that we all agree upon:

* Auto-drafting is awesome;
* White Plume Mountain is tragically under-appreciated;
* Lemurs make for interesting PCs (and good eatin', too!);
* An Interstellar Karma Satellite is about to land on Portsmouth;
* Brett Favre is an insufferable prima donna;

and

* My collection rocks. Yours is average, at best.
