As far as I know, its only one guy.

He cleaned up the last time Paul ran an auction as well, as a mtter of fact if IIRC he won every single item from the last set of auctions Paul ran. Every single one of them.

He does seem like a nice guy(he bought a sh*t load of stuff from me this past summer too) and he also apparently has a lot of cash to spend, and I mean a lot.

I threw down a substantial bid on B3 and a few last minuters as well and didn't win a thing.
It's rare that D&D items will capture my attention but this was an incredible auction. Apparently I will need to ready some cash for the Cook auction.

Keep em coming Paul.

I should have gone much higher on that rust monster, my last second bid didn't even show up.

You are correct, I saved the Eric Shook auction closings in PDF and degassy31 had a clean sweep of that one. Maybe he's planning on opening a TSR museum.

Nice win by David on the Rust Monster. I was in a games shop the other day and picked up (i.e. read in store and then put carefully back) a 3E book on monster ecologies (a brief collection from Dragon Mag). It has a nice paragraph from E.G.G. on how he decided straight away what the toy would be like as a monster, with the antenna etc...

A couple of folks put up very good fights and a few of them won! Congratulations on sticking to your guns! (David, I have grown rather fond of that rust monster but I am glad he is going to a good home. Keep him away from your motorcar!)

I just told Kevin and Mary the good news! When I told him the final total, he said, "What was that number again? It was too high for my brain to register?" :lol:

Mary was pleased that her Coloring Album went for $61, one of her few items in the auction.

Aaarggghh! Real life influences conspired to keep me from placing any snipes on this auction. I suppose I can take some comfort in the fact that most of them ended higher than I was willing to go, but there were a few that I might have had a shot at.

I had maybe a dozen items on my watch list, just in case any stayed unreasonable low. But Degassy made sure they all fetched a good price.

As to why a hydra? No, not even Kevin's module includes a hydra - but it does have a lot of reptiles in it. Perhaps it was a case of misleading the plyers as had been done on other modules at the time - A3 and A4 modules come to mind.

I thought you might have some inside information on that. Thank you for sharing. Erol is modest.

Have you ever thought about scanning the more interesting memorabilia (such as the CTHULHU 'zine) and posting the copies on The Acaeum? It would very a really neat reading...

and I guess it would not violate any copyrights or lower prices of originals (I seriously doubt anything like that will be ever put on auction again, unless Degassy gets bored or needs money for a new house... :wink:

). I'd be willing to buy copies too just for the sake of reading

I wonder if I had the lowest winning bid? I got Howard Thompson's business card for like $10.

BTW, for those who don't know it, the Thompson saga is sort of interesting. The man has basically disappeared.
