bclarkie wrote in The one that got away...:Thanks.I have to admit, that as I was buying this, I was having memories of everyone here being awed when Paul bought a 1st print for like $4k like 20 years ago and now here I am buying a 3rd for $6,200 and am like "Take my money!", lol.ETA: I just went down memory lane searching and I was even wrong. It wasn't $4,000, it was $2,200.00. Geez.
red_bus wrote in The one that got away...:Congrats Bclarkie - you got a great deal!Your memory lane search sent me hunting, the $4,000 remembrance you had, might have been the $4,039 I paid waaay back in Nov 2005 for a Woodgrain from Paul (which at the time seemed a terrifying amount of money!)
bclarkie wrote in The one that got away...:He had 4 R modules up(2 sold and 2 are still available) and lots of other stuff, so my guess is that someone sent him a message asking if he had anything else for sale that he had not yet listed. The person who contacted him singled those items out to buy after getting a list of other things and without relaying what they may actually go for at auction, worked out a cheap deal for them.Like, I saw it pop up and even now knowing that there's supposedly heavy water damage and potentially missing maps, that $300 is/was a no brainer for me for that lot. Then after finding out that this listing was set up and meant to be too much for someone else to even consider really threw me for a loop. I tried to explain it, but not much more I could do, dude was intent on selling this stuff for almost certainly less than it is worth.I was never told how much he was selling them for, nor who the buyer was, but my biggest fear is that in two weeks, our old friend from Virginia is going to have all of these items listed individually for 10+ times what they paid for them. Oh well.

bclarkie wrote in The one that got away...:Guess now that it has arrived I can admit, it's me.Very nice copy too. It actually has all 16 sheets too, not the 15 as stated in the listing. Really happy to pick this up, I've been looking for one after I sold my two sets(of incomplete) sheets years ago.
Sir Kill Alot wrote in The one that got away...:Congrats on the pickup. That is a beautiful copy. You don't see them like this very often.-SKA
bclarkie wrote in The one that got away...:Thanks!And I agree. Honestly, I personally don't think I've ever seen a complete copy sold before. I'm sure there has been, just I've never seen one.
