Devon and I were able to get in the events we wanted this year :D

Looking forward to seeing everyone again, eating some Su Wings and Daddy Maxwell's, and enjoying the con at the new venue.

FYI - Registration Update 2/5: Re-opening SUNDAY 12pm EST

Details here: Registration Update 2/5: Re-opening SUNDAY 12pm EST | Gary Con Forums

Incidentally, I was one (of I hope a small number) of the folks who originally had all my events originally confirmed, and was just notified none of those events was really registered. So if you haven't login to your account and double check to see if your events are really there.

are you going to be hauling something like this around to serve all the patrons?

Well Misterspock, that's a little too fancy for me... plus the bar staff probably wouldn't like that, ahahaha... Having said that, the beer offer is good for Acaeum people along with some of the podcasts I listen to and those who are a fan of them.  Cons are a great place to meet and catch up with friends and such that I have met over the years and I would be remiss to not have something around for them!

I just re-checked our accounts and everything still shows up and is confirmed.  :D

Thanks for the heads up as I would have been pissed if they were removed and I didn't try to register for something else.

Frankenparty the Third
Pre-Con Party and Gaming and Such

Date: Wednesday 02 March 2-16, Afternoon/Evening
When: 3 pm until late (9p? Mid? Who knows?)
At: Frank Mentzer's house
Where: Sharon WI, 24 miles away
SIGN UP: Please see below; let me know you're coming.

Back during the Troll Lord days (Lake Geneva Game Conventions), Gary & Gail hosted a wonderful open house in Lake Geneva. This is an attempt to continue that tradition, still in Walworth County but a little further out.

Families & kids welcome. We have two small, friendly dogs (lovers not fighters) and a caged parrot who eats fingers & pencils.

We'll have snacks, various non-alcoholic beverages (diet & sugared), and dinner. Also featuring Debbie's amazing baked goods. Donations encouraged; please consider $5 for all that. We 'broke even' the last two years straight, visitors have been great and donations covered the tab. Thanks much!

We will not be serving alcohol, not even beer, so BYO. The local convenience store DOES carry a variety of good local beers, including New Glarus and Point. Please don't distribute (legal issues), and don't give it to underagers.

Tobacco Use will be confined to outdoors (back deck and front porch), and we'll air out the place before the party. ;>

Drugs are strongly discouraged. Get real, and/or don't do them here.

Parking will be on my lawns (like the first year). Please enter by the driveway and either turn right (front or side lawn) or keep going to the back (side yard & orchard lawn).

Go to the GaryCon website (Frankenparty thread) for the PDF of maps, instructions, etc. Cya there!

Attending my first Gary Con. I was slow to plan the trip and get to game registration, so I'm only playing in a few formal games -- but I'm still looking forward to it!

Any suggestions for a Gary Con newbie? Is there anything cool I should know about in the evenings? Fun parties (that are open to all), good places to eat, local bars, etc.? I'll be there Thursday through Sunday.

Welcome Brian, hope you have fun at Gary Con, it will be my third one.  Don't worry about missing games, there is even stuff run off the grid that you could get into or if a game is not full you might be able to add more that way.  You'll meet plenty of Acaeumites there and all I have met have been awesome people.  I don't have much in the line of bar/restaurant stuff to offer since I bring my own beer down along with the obligatory New Glarus on tap.  I also stay at the hotel/con all four days so all my meals come from there.  New place this time so we'll have to try the food.  Also, stop by the vendor areas, you can meet a lot of the artists as well as some fine folk that are members here who have their own booth space.  It's a good time!

One thing to prepare for is the group photo in your Hawaiian shirt on Saturday at 6pm. So pack your best and show it off on Saturday.

Take the convention in and be open to asking people running games if they can fit you in if you are so inclined. Best to do at the beginning of the game.

In the future if you can try to arrive Wednesday afternoon. This will give you time to go to the social event of the convention at Franks.

Frankenparty note:

If it's more convenient to donate for Frankenparty before the con,
instead of hitting much-needed trip cash ($5 per person suggested),
Paypal (to 'friend', avoid fees) directly to my email:
ExxTSR@gmail.com

Thanks in advance. Prolly make this a regular feature. :)

Sure. Consider yourself invited.

The alleged Tuesday Blizzard has been reduced to 1-3", with 50s temps today thru Mon, so it should balance out.
