Are they growing out of The Lodge?  Am I mistaken or did Luke say once upon a time that they might cap attendance rather than turn into a "real" convention and have to move to someplace bigger?

Doug and I have a firm figure in mind we would limit attendance to in the future. We don't want our con to lose that "small con" feel, plus we have no interest in dealing with 1000 attendees or anything.  Not that we are close to the figure we have chosen (or even Garycon's figure), but I guess it becomes the difference between running a business or not.

Regardless, it is remarkable to watch the convention's progress from the days of meeting on Gary's lawn to what they have accomplished now.

The Lodge is planning expansions, but their timeline is variable.

Grand Geneva (former playboy club) could accommodate now, but for lots more $$.

We of the Old Guard (haha) recommend strongly (to Luke et al) that they stay in Lake Geneva, preferably at the Lodge instead of dealing with a learning curve at a new site. And moving away from LG, especially to/towards Milwaukee, would (imho) make it unGary Badwrong.

It's possible that, with a GC guarantee and their explit needs, the Lodge could squeeze in expansions sooner rather than later, for the win/win.

I hope they stay. Unlike many other cons, Garycon is wedded to a certain place (in our hearts, minds and imaginations). When I finally go to Garycon, I want to go to Garycon in Lake Geneva.  I agree moving it out of town would be bad, especially to (ugh) Milwaukee.
