It could.  Planar adventures have an inherent shade of silliness haunting them.  The idea of battling across Hell is inherently silly.  So is a voyage down the Styx or attacking the castle of a demon lord on Abyssal Plane #537.  Sort of like an adventure in Lovecraft's dreamworld setting...purple zebras and all.

This isn't to say that I don't like these adventures. I just consider them silly.

I did not think TSR ever published those dungeons.

Are you thinking of proper Gygax version of Castle Greyhawk?  From what I have read and heard, that never has and never will be published because it never existed in a form that could be published.

And TLG had been working on a Castle Zygag for C&C but it never got finished.

The original (EGG only) and expanded Greyhawk Castle levels (EGG + RJK) all exist---they're definitely not destroyed.  

Castle Zagyg's dungeon level was based on one of Gary's original Castle levels---the Storerooms---and was written by Jeff Talanian, under Gary's direction.  Jeff has spoken in the past about how much control/direction Gary provided, and I'll see if he can pop over to reiterate that to whatever degree he would like.

None of the published versions of Castle Greyhawk from TSR bear any resemblance to the original or expanded castles.  So:

• WG7 Castle Greyhawk
• WGR1 Greyhawk Ruins
• Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk

will not give you much of a "real" glimpse into the original games run by Gary and Rob.  Both WGR1 and EttRoG contain some hints and homages to the original content, but they're not a large percentage of the content (not more than say 2% or so, if that).
