was there a list of what was in it??

I don't know if I would have sold it, a profit sharing arrangment might have been better if it was to be all sold off.. but there are risks no matter, and maybe a quick profit is good?..

Some can maybe confirm what is happening with it? and while you are at it ask Paul what is happening with the GG auctions??.. at this rate I'll be 412 year old before he finishes selling it all..

I thought Dave was teaching down in Florida but maybe moved back up to north in the last couple of years. I guessing the storage unit was probably something he had around for years and maybe the family didn't even know about it.

I don't know but its pretty much on him-them. Why didn't they know about it? You know? If they did they dropped the ball. If they didn't know about it there's probably a reason he didn't tell them. Nobody paid the storage fees and the locker got sold. It seems pretty logical to me and I guess I don't feel sorry for anyone cause of my possibly flawed reasoning above;)
Really I'm guessing the person who lost the most $ out of the whole deal will be the one who bought the lockers contents at the auction. Just a gut feeling.

I dunno in general these people who buy abandoned storage units must make a profit or they wouldn't do it.

It's too bad the two fathers of the game died so early. I wonder if Dave smoked like Gary did.

Its like gambling to where you can get lucky and strike gold or wind up with a bunch of crap. I don't think its a sure thing at all.

No, he didn't.

And I'm not shocked; Dave lived a lot of his life on small notes, scraps of paper with design ideas, RL reminders, etc. It could have been as simple as the storage unit note getting buried in the wrong pile.

Sounds like me. I am great at making little notes and such, but not so great organizing.

Either way, it's too bad both the "fathers of RPGs" are gone.

Did we get Al Caponed?(Or is that Geraldo'd?)

Grodog seemed to have info that something would be happening/announced but.. what?

I mean if it's something that leads to a product such as 'the lost modules of Dave Arneson' or something, then I would expect some PR beat about it.

If it's "The lost underwear and excess kitchen supplies of Dave Arneson" then the silence makes more sense.

Sorry if you got excited by the thread bump, but, I had to ask!

Dave, Gary and Rob were not using huge amounts of "roleplaying"-related material right back at the start. Prof. Barker was another matter, of course.

Maybe it wasn't posted anywhere, but The Collector's Trove has possession of the collection. The purchase was made a while back and I presume it'll be sold off in batches like the Gygax collection as well.

With the current "Blistering Pace" of the Gygax auctions I'm wondering if I will live to see anything ... have to maybe get the grandkids to buy some stuff after I'm gone.. my son's only 5 years old so that give me at least 40 years to plan...
