If you have a ready-made, pre-paid audience for your setting, you might want to sell copies.

I see adventure modules as:

a)  Faster to produce.
b)  Less expensive to produce
c)  Priced at a more friendly buy-in level
d)  Actually usable.

I have voted for Settings and Adventures on the DF poll.

However, I now wonder if an old-school primer similar to Mythmere's 13-page A Quick Primer for Old School Gaming or Robin Laws' 32-page Robin's Laws of Good Game Mastering is worth publishing.  Those books deal with different subject matter, but they both fit into my idea of what a Supplement is.

Matt's book is a free PDF; its download count may provide a baseline for free, old-school PDFs.  Laws' book is out-of-print and fetches double its $9.95 cover price; I assume that people find it worth reading, or else it would not be selling at such an inflated price.

Frank,

i played in 2 of your adventures at last years NTRPG Con, in which i am assuming from memory, that, that was Aquaria?

if so, its a no-brainer you get that sorted out and released man. i will stand and advocate that, that is one amazing setting and i loved the differing sections of the world and what was going on. i would very much like that to see the light of day so i can use it.

Accessories, meh - though monsters and new treasures items would always be nice.

Adventures - damn man you bet. we've most all played some now and i think many are chomping at the bit to see more.

i can only wish you guys the very best of fortunes with all this stuff and look forward to it seeing the light of day like yesterday.

Al

Are we nearly there yet?

And I think he's still in Toronto. (A wonderful city, as cities go.)

I wonder if WotC wouldn't really "value" the R1-12 modules very highly, Frank, and that they might-well be interested in either licensing them (to make money on them for free, from their POV), or just to sell them outright back to you.

Also:  did any of your contract clauses for RPGA work include reversion of rights?---some of old the old clauses for Dragonquest books did, for example, and were retained via TSR.

Adventures, strong villains, riddles, mysteries and strong plotlines.

I agree with earlier posts. I'm ruleset-ed and setting-ed to death!

I like the earlier suggestion of an adventure serving as a vehicle for setting infusion--introduce a portion of the world with each adventure, where the adventure is the focus.
I'd take up a new setting only if it's supported by adventures.

What sits behind a Klingon desk in the morning?
What imbibes two potions in Castle Grodog at midday?
What scores BadMike's flips at GenCon towards evening?
What 'slows' Kuntz's minions at night?

:) :) :)

Hello Mrs. Cleaver, Theodore.

Gee, Mrs. Cleaver ... That certainly is a lovely dress.

I want the thing all things devours, birds, beasts, trees, and flowers; that gnaws iron and bites steel, grinds hard stones to meal; slays kings, ruins towns, and beats high mountains down....

But I need weaken as all men for hours each day and will see strange visions while away. Taken by night, the day take me back; none suffer to have, but will from its lack.

One should not start thinking too late at night

In-jokes.

My players are whining about the campaign again.

It's complicated. Involves two shrines of elemental power, an imprisoned giant cyclops, and more.

Nice riposte tho, Smarmy.

Adventures and more adventures of course, but I also really like pre-generated characters and places that I can plug into my game.

I'm talking "Rogues Gallery" and "Book of Taverns" type products.

I love to play, but I don't have time to create my own material so I depend heavily on published mods and aids that I can drop into my campaign easily.  They are a huge help to me and I'm always looking for and buying things like this.

My two cents.
