Bad news first: Clyde Caldwell can't make it this year...

Good news:  Bill Webb is coming...

and he was hoping to meet Forum Critic ... so if you are reading this, you need to be here for the Con

He plans on bringing some stuff for us to auction...

Well, the good news is that Clyde Caldwell is at least returning our calls....!

The better news is that Bill Webb will be there.  With both he and Matt Finch there, we expect Frog God Games will have a huge presence at the con.  Anyone interested in Necromancer Games needs to be here to corner Bill for some history lessons.  I can't wait to meet him myself...

I have never been to a con, and haven't played d&d for more than 20 years, so i would be a little rusty

But the only con that would be of interest is this one....i will be looking at the dates to see if i can make it work....it sounds like a blast.

For an RPG convention, NorTex can't be beat. I am almost sorry that I ruined its purity last year with Circvs Maximvs; almost. This year's rematch promises to be a bloodbath, in a Circvs nobody down there has raced on yet (think Talladega with with flat, sandy corners).

I will be putting together a new type of adventure especially for NorTex; I have the rudiments worked out in my head but not named yet. It will be, hopefully, unlike anything you have done before.

I look forward to seeing all of you again in June.

If you're printing off copies of your adventure for NorTexCon, you might make a few extras for sale to people here on the Acaeum who cannot go to Texas in early June...before school lets out.

Specifically, of course, I was thinking of...me.

Catastrophe! My grand plans for attending NTRPG Con have been jeopardized by a wedding invitation. Honestly, who gets married in June!?   Wish me luck on the upcoming negotiations.

Blog post on this: mainly a "start early" convention announcement, but also a bit of a "feel" for the convention.

Hmmm...

$390.00 round trip air fare
$516.00 for the hotel
$400.00 food & refreshments
$5,000.00 miscellaneous expenditures

Total: $6,306.00

I don't think the wife will go for it.  Maybe if I cut the miscellaneous in half? :)

Holy Crap!  Do your misc expenses include renting the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders for halftime "entertainment" purposes???

Its really quite affordable seeing as you won't spend close to $400 for food, and maybe a fraction of the misc (unless you buy, say, 1 of everything at the con and all the auction items!).

Look, the hotel room wont' be anywhere near that expensive...

Yes, it's $99.00 a night for a room with 2 beds and a pull out couch. It's nice size room, with a full kitchen

Thu, Fri, Sat  - that's only 3 nights - $297.00 plus taxes...

Back in the day, sharing a room was no problem when we were all younger, these days we don't want people to share our room, hear our snores, see our fat bellies...

But heck with one room mate: $148.50, with a 2nd room mate, $99.00

it can get real cheap on a room for 3 nights...

I can't help with the misc expenses, I'll be sure to bring plenty of rare stuff for you to buy so you can spend it all

As stated above, your Hotel and Food allowances are WAY over estimated.
And no one but you can limit your Miscelaneous expenses.

Just try to keep your hands in your pocket for the Auction(s) and stay away from Doug's Rare items Shelves and you might be able to walk away for a WHOLE lot less than that much.

Even if you do raise your hand (or nod your head... or holler yep!, or whatever) once or twice at the auction and even if you buy one or two items from Doug's Rare items shelf, I really dont see how you would spend more than half that much.

It looks like ex-TSR artist and co-creator of the superhero RPG Villains & Vigilantes, Jeff Dee, will be attending. Jeff was part of the TSR art stuff during the "golden age" and produced a lot of interior art, as well as covers for A1, A3, S1, S2, T1 and X1.  Along with Erol Otus, I believe this con is now completely covered when it comes to classic TSR artists!
