Do you want Tim and I do to the peddling?

Also... did anybody sign up for any of my events, other than Sat nite?

We would LOVE to have an onsite auction...it just isn't practical with the logistics. Definitely planning next year...and we would love you and Tim to assist if you are here.

Below is the newest listing of events...your Saturday night slot is full, Frank.  What I will do is eventually email the DM a list of all players, if he wants to impart some information to them, or have them argue over pregens, whatever.  Everyone in the event will also get an email with all the other participants.  I'm going to wait another week or so (I think I have already alerted Grodog as to his sign ups, though) unless one of the DMs wants the information now.....just thought I'd wait to see if there were any changes or drop outs.

I'd been wondering about the auction mentioned.

So what else will be going on at the convention? I know boardgames were mentioned. Im not sure what I would bring with me except maybe a micro-game.

This is a VERY preliminary listing....depends on who is getting in when I guess, and what they want to do.

I hope there is a lot of conversation and hanging out amid all the game playing...I think the schedule is flexible enough to allow this.

Sunday afternoon/early evening: Frank has indicated he wouldn't mind boardgaming for a few hours.  We have the following games in our just beginning "library" if anyone is interested (BTW, if anyone wishes to donate a game to our game library, that would be great, we plan on bringing it every year and hopefuly watching it grow....a beat up, well loved/used game is an excellent choice).

Talisman (2nd edition, with lots of supplements);
Lankhmar (1976 edition);
Best of Dragon Games (includes the classic Wham game Search for the Emperor's Treasure);
Mertwig's Maze (another classic Tom Wham game);
Nuclear War;
Cargo;
Saga (TSR minigame)
I think Jason Braun is bringing Munchkin.  We'll have a designated "boardgame" table set up in a corner of the room (or we may put it in the storage closet, that might be a perfect spot)

Friday night we will be treating the special guests to dinner at Texas Land and Cattle Steak House...anyone there is welcome to tag along (but we're not getting your check, you cheap ass bastards!).  Afterwards, we will "officially" game from 6 to midnight.  Besides the scheduled games, we will have opportunities for pickup games if the official games are full.

At various times during the night we will draw names for the "raffle".  There are two types of items: "free" raffle items, and items you have to buy a ticket for.  We think we might be able to get enough free items, if we pull each ticket after you have won something, to make sure ALL attendees win something, which would be cool.  Everyone that is registered gets one of the "free" tickets with his or her registration packet. The $5 tickets for the more expensive/desirable items are available from a link on the website.
 Also note that some raffle items you MUST be present to win; others, not so. If your name is drawn and you aren't attending the con, we WILL toss your ticket back in the box for another shot if you have to be there to win. Note that we WILL be selling raffle tickets at the con, we prefer check or cash, we can take credit cards but it's a little harder.

Free items include mostly donated modules and games; Paid ticket items include the Dragon #1, Beholder mini painted by Angela, Tim Kask signed DM copy of his adventure, etc

Auction items are those items we determined have an audience outside of the 70 or so attendees....stuff like the original Paul Jaqauys artwork. We want to get the max price we can out of this, AND make sure a lot of non-attendees that are art lovers can have a chance to buy them.  These will go up for auction on Ebay the week after the con.

Please note that all the raffle items are being raffled, and are being used to offset expenses...we aren't keeping anything unless it was specifially given as a gift to us...

Most of the games Friday night should be over at midnight; if you aren't ready to hit the sack, we do have a Ihop and Whatburger across the street open 24 hours...might be nice spots to head for a late night snack and shoot the bull session. There is also a 24 hour bowling alley (with a restaurant and bar) about a block down the street if you are feeling really adventurous....!

Saturday morning, we have a light schedule of official games, so perhaps that means a lot of pickup games or boardgames on the agenda.  At 12:30 or so we start loading up the bus for the Grillin.  The game room at the hotel will be closed and locked up for this portion of the day, so if by some reason you are NOT going you need to make other plans besides hanging out in the main room.

The game room will reopen at about 4-5 or so, with official games beginning at 6 pm and continuing to midnight.  With four offiical games scheduled I suspect there won't be a lot of pickup stuff going on, so this should be a good, solid night of hard core old school action!

Next morning, if you want to get up early, we have breakfast at the Ihop on us, and then directly after we will be jumping on the bus out front of the hotel to head to Denton for the Reaper tour.  The game room may or may not be closed during this time, if enough attendees don't want to go on the tour, we will keep it open, otherwise it will be closed up and you're on your own until we get back.

The game room will reopen at about 11 am or so, and the afternoon schedule of games will begin at noon. We also kept this light since people will be headed back to the airport from noon onwards.  The con officially closes at 5 pm, but we will still have people flying out until 9 pm, so it will be a long day!

After the last attendee is put off at the airport curb, I will be busting open a nice, brand new bottle of Scotch and drinking until I pass out. Killjoy will then probably paint a mustache on my face with a black felt marker and take pictures to be posted on this thread......

A NOTE FOR THE FUTURE:

Because of the logistics (one room to game in, although we have been given permission to use the breakfast area after 10 am) we have had to delay a few activities we would like to add for next year. Chief among them are going to be a short (1-2 hour) auction, a small dealer/vendor area, and perhaps a seminar/Q&A or two from some of our guests.  We need space for any of those, so we reluctantly had to face reality that we didn't want the main room getting too busy with events.

However, if I can direct your gaze to the calendar and time machine on the wall, imagine if you will:  One room for RPG gaming; one room for boardgaming/pickup RPG gaming; one room with a lectern for seminars and talks with some of the hobbies greats, and one room with a vendor/dealer setup during the day and a small auction for a couple hours on Friday and Saturday evening.  We know we are catering to a niche audience, but it's a LOYAL niche audience that we have found will support this hobby.  Even better things will be coming.....!

I have a few games that might be of interest.

War of Wizards
Attack Force
Viking Gods
GDW's Asteroid
and several Dwarfstar mini-games (Dragon Rage, Goblin, Star Viking, etc.)

Too bad there isnt enough time to have a game of Circus Maximus.  :)

Tower of the Wizard King.....
Board game with 2-4 players........
Duration to complete full game is 2-4 hours.

I want to take it back home tough, so perhaps not appropriate. :?:

Frank:

I am sorry we don't have an easy way to show how many are signed up at the moment... but, I am working on a new site for next year.... for those reading this, please take time to go to:

http://2010.ntrpgcon.com

I am working on a new site to take place of the "old site". I will move it AFTER the Con this year... but you are more than welcome to go sign up...  you can also "sign up" for the Con, and other game events as I add them.... to TEST the site... (don't use PayPal for the Con sign up or you will send me a free $20.00... )

In any case, I need the site tested, so sign up, email me ideas about the Forums etc.... I'll need some feed back.

I will also start posting some pictures there for testing etc...

Now... as to Mike's post about dinner for the special guests....

Obviously it can't be at Night ... since the Con starts at 1600 and I am sure we will be busy passing out badges etc etc... and gaming starts at 1800...

The Dinner will be earlier like 1400-1500 since the guests should arrive as follows:

Frank Mentzer         : 12:05pm
Tim Kask                 : 12:15pm
Robert Kuntz           : 1:30pm

Not sure when Paul Jaquays or Dennis Sustare will arrive, and it seems Jason Braun won't be there until 11pm ... so it's dinner for 3 around 3pm at the moment :)

There are a lot of cool boardgames I'd love to take with me or try out, but I doubt I will be able to bring anything with me. Maybe a copy of metagamings OGRE if I can find it.

This is just a random list of boardgames I've played at cons or ones I've been interested in but never played. If anyone with a set would like to meet up at the con you'd definitely have an opponent or player for one of these.

Heroquest is a fun quick game. I've never played Descent but it looks like a new age heroquest. Warhammer Quest is like the super deluxe version of HQ. Never played Advanced Heroquest.

The DOOM boardgame looks cool but I've never played it. It looks a bit like Spacehulk.

Spacehulk itself is a fantastic game.

RISK is always amusing and I've always wanted to try the Lord of the Rings version. (The Star Wars version looked cool too).

War of the Ring. This game looks great but not sure of the complexity so I don't know if it is convention appropriate.

Arkham Horror. I have the new version but have never sat down and played it.

Zombies. This is a fun game as I remember it and there are five or six add-ons. If I remember correctly you can play cards against other players.

I know Divine Right was mentioned but it has been so long I have completely forgotten what this game is like.

If there is a talisman game going during an open time I'd love to get in on it.

Well the beholder was entered into the ReaperCon Open Catagory today and received a silver medal :)

Interesting though this model is being raffled off. She rarely gives up award winning models for anything (we keep them all 8) ).  The winner of this mini will be getting a very nice item.

Here's mine.  Painted by Egg of Coot several years ago.

:)

Interestingly, my mini did not come with all eye stalks but a pair of hand stalks and a pair of something else.  Egg had to reshape all the stalks into eye stalks. 8)

I really like that one.
Every Eye Stalk has a different Eyeball, different in Iris shapes and colors both.
We know from the Monster Manual that each Eye has a different spell effect, so varying colors and/or shapes makes sense.
Very Nice Mini... 8)

Mike, Doug, anyone?

Is there a way for attendees to look at and perhaps print out a list of the game sessions that they are signed up for on the web site?

I am trying to determine what game sessions that Colton and I signed on for at the Convention.

Since Mike is keeping the data manually this year, there is no way to see what you signed up for if you don't remember...

You'll need to ask Mike (if he'd send me the sign up list, I'd post it on the site)... but I am still waiting for Mike's additions to the Program I need to print up before the Con... and if I don't get those by next week, I'll be printing the programs without his info....

Thanks much Doug.
Appreciate the info.

I had a "LIST" all ready and made out for sign ups.
BUT, I left it here at the house and went to Mikes to play some D&D.
We did the sign up then and I did not get a copy.
Thought I would be able to see my sign ups later on.

I will ask Mike if he has time to look for me.

Agreed.  When I ask Egg to paint my stuff, I request the Monster Manual be the primary resource.  Interestingly, the Monster Manual is fairly consistent at detailing colors.
