My daughter is in school in Rio this summer.  Tuesday she wrote the following:

"Yesterday, a group of students from the program went down to Copacabana beach to watch the Brazil-Chile game on a giant screen set up by the FIFA folks.  The atmosphere, after Brazil won, was pretty much like University Ave after the Gators win a National Championship -- only magnified by an entire city."

I'm sure she exaggerates, as nothing can be as awe-inspiring as the Gators winning, but I'm beginning to get the idea.  So now that team USA is out of the picture, Viva Brasil!

*g* Welcome, ya! ;)

Talking of boobies, rather looking forward to the former head of Interpol (hopefully) going down on corruption charges today. Amongst other tricks, seemed to think it was OK to cut-and-paste a document together for evidence /during/ the trial, apparently forgetting to make the fabrication look anything like the original he /knew/ the court had.

(Par for the course for modern-day South Africa, sad to say, and just about a low for Interpol short of having a previous president executed for war crimes...).

Question: I just purchased some acid-free cardboard backings.

Both sides are white, but one side is kind of shiny and one side is kind of a flat white.

Which side should touch my products?

The shiny side.

No wonder British Airways are losing money. They should sack their marketing manager:

The Netherlands beat Brazil!  Didn't see that one coming.  Maybe it was my imagination or lack of experience watching the game but Holland seems to have a few dirty players and are very good at fakery.  Especially Arjen Robben.  That guy fell every time a Brazilian player looked at him.  Holland had four yellow cards and I kept expecting the ref to throw a red card at them but it never materialized.  It looked like Brazil just lost their composure near the end.

Hopefully a good match coming up this afternoon between Uruguay and Ghana.

That's a good assessment. Robben is very good at making nothing look very nasty indeed! There was a prime example in the second half where he flew into the air, rolling & holding his leg, when the replay should practically zero contact.

However, my bet of a Dutch Spain final is still on the cards!  :D
