Cool intellivision cartridge...and a basic book in SW.  Intellivision was so much better than the Atari 2600.  That's how I remember it anyways...

Did the basic book leave the factory sealed? Or was this ‘sealed’ by the reseller once it hit the shops and they didn’t want people flicking through it?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

It did, when sold separately, and that looks like original SW.

I don't want to offend neither Paul nor anyone else who puchased from his listings however i feel a bit uncomfortable with those auction style: there is a long text with basically no description of the item sold and 2/3 pics in average... i know Paul is one of the most trusted person here (and in general within the rpg communities) but i am often blocked by bidding by the lack of description and/or pictures...

@Paul: pls consider this a suggestion about possible improvments and not an useless rant!

How do you view Collector's Trove auctions outside of the US?
I can see it because you've provided a link, but they are not searchable and you cannot see them by clicking on the seller in eBay.
I can only see about six items (Titan badge, game, supplement, moive still, ninja turtle and Ant Wars).
This seems to be the case with a number of sellers in the past years.
I put it down to shipping risk to the UK, and our laws on distance selling.
I don't use a VPN so I can't hide my country of origin.

Came here to post the same thing. Its bonkers. You need to switch from .co.uk to .com perhaps? I find it super frustrating to chase down sellers other items.

I stopped trying to figure it out a year or so ago. I figure if people want to sell to non-US buyers they'd allow them to bid on their auctions.
Which is a shame becuase I used to bid highly on some of the more obscure unpublished things when they came up.
People don't even use the classifieds anymore. It use to be a big thing to post lists of what you have for sale.
Maybe this is just technology moving beyond me now. Who knows?

When searching the German ebay, I have to be physically logged into their site to see everything.

I'll share a trade secret :)

Under eBay settings change your "country or region" to United States or any other country you want to buy from.

Additionally you can get a US address at a place like myus.com and have them redirect items to you. As a bonus myus.com is in Florida so you skip US state sales taxes. They also are in the UK. And they consolidate packages. For full disclosure, I do not own shares in that company!

Enter your new address as your primary address under Settings in eBay. Now you can easily toggle between countries to view items you wouldn't have seen before, and between addresses to bid on items you couldn't have bid on before.

You don't need a VPN for that, even if it's a great idea to have one for other reasons.

And so with that, now you can buy easily from any seller in the US or the UK who won't sell international, either deliberately or out of ignorance or angst.

Note that there are plenty of sellers in every country who won't sell abroad.

There is also software that lets you monitor multiple eBay instances internationally at once.

Alternatively one can ask some of the grognards here to commiserate with them on how sellers and the universe are going downhill, and they will happily feed into the shared aging-dude confirmation bias! :)

Gregory...
I do get how to buy something and ship it to a third party in the US.
I understand the work around.

The point being, if sellers want to exclude foreign sales, let them. I just question why sellers are doing it. Clay would not ship Internationally either. I can only assume its because of the increased risk of AH buyers who wont pay for shipping safely and tracked, and argue over import duties, neither of which are the responsibility of the seller, but here in the UK the law is such that any AH who buys can then fuck the seller over no questions asked under out distance selling laws.

So the questions really were, how was Aia able to find the auction in the first place (question answered... an eBay.com account), and secondly, is there a reason why sellers like Paul and Clay exclude foreign bids? Overly complexed software from eBay? Bad experiences with International sellers? Or protection of ones interestes in light of foreign Government overreach.

I can't speak for Clay or Paul, but many sellers don't do international shipping due to the hassle and the risk.  Sellers also exclude locations that are particularly egregious when it come to shipping fraud and corruption.  Some of the known problem countries I've seen people exclude are Nigeria (and most of Africa), Russian Federation, Italy, France, UK, Brazil and Mexico.

In regard to not seeing auctions in other countries, I think it's been covered adequately.  I personally just switch to the eBay country site to see the auctions, which are usually restricted by the seller, whether unintentional or intentional.  If there's something that I really would like to purchase, I'll reach out to the seller to see if it would be okay to bid or make an offer.  A majority of the time I can work something out.

You asked "How do you view Collector's Trove auctions outside of the US?" so evidently you didn't get how to do that, and the point wasn't why sellers are doing it. It's ok to move the discussion after that in new directions but kindly don't make it look like I'm not answering the right question, probably bc of other vibes in previous discussions.

There's also an easier way: use the Acaeum page.  Top of your screen --> eBay --> top right Configuration, at "Use Acaeum system or go directly to eBay item page?" choose "Acaeum".  Now when you click the seller's name in the auction preview, it will take you to our simplified list of sellers' items.  It also uses our internal eBay item pages, which you may or may not prefer.

I do see that the list of seller's items shows the first item twice.  Not sure why or if I'm interested enough to debug that.

Foul

No I didnt mean that. You did say you need to log on using eBay's US website to see US only auctions, and I can surmise from that's how Aia managed to find the auction.
That then raised the question of why big name sellers are excluding international buyers from their auctions as a matter of course.
I used to bid as a matter of course on stuff aimed specifically at collectors. I'd win occasionally, but for the most part I just drove up prices, not having the deep pockets others have.
But pushing up prices may have been of benefit to sellers. Or maybe not. Who knows. The point being, sellers over the past few years are limiting their buying pool to US only clients, and whilst I do see the adverts when they appear in Classified, usually they are just blank, and I put that down to eitgher I'm too late, or sellers don't want to ship to the UK.
I don't have a problem with this. I reallise the UK Laws are now anti-online seller orientated.
The question only came up because a non-US poster had managed to see a Collector's Trove auction and I wondered how?
Was it just my browser or was it a limitation imposed by the seller? I'm not trying to cast any shade to either yourself or Paul.
I am merely wondering why the move away from the open international community to a more insular national one.
Habit? Oversight? Protectionism? Genearal community trend? A push by eBay to deter such things perhaps?

Clay can clarify for himself, but he does ship internationally. At least to Canada, from experience. Maybe to trusted buyers only (if so, thank you Clay!). But maybe you meant overseas or to some countries as listed by another forum member.
