For the poster collector:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

Starting bid seems high to me, but posters like these have gone for more.

I'm curious about Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle, the D&DNext playtest module that was printed for GenCon last year.

I cannot find it on eBay.
Amazon has one for $90, but that is about 3x what I'd like to pay for a copy.

Before I try to buy I was wondering if it's any good?  Yes, I know it's 5e but the word around the campfire is that it's got an old school feel.

Thanks,
Keith

I think these cost $30 new and most go for around $40 or a little more on Ebay.

It's also for sale as a PDF on the DND Classics site, although at a fairly steep price of $17.99.

I toyed with the idea but I think I'd rather have a dead tree copy.  I'm not sure the PDF is worth $18.

I'm actually playing Dragonspear with my regular D&D group. It has a $30 cover price for 280 pages of material, 144 of which are the adventures. (The rest are the rules for 5E). The price range of $40-$60 is accurate on eBay, so, a PDF is less than half price.

So far, it totally has an "old school" feel, at least as compared to 4E. There is significant dungeon exploration, and a nice, cohesive plot to tie everything together. Is it worth $60? That's up to each person to decide I suppose...I'm a collector so I gotta have it.  :D

I'm not sorry to own it. And it looks like it will last my group until the "official" rules launch at Gen Con, so, we're happy.

Thank you for the info.  I was interested because of what I'd heard about the module and the fact that it contains the 5e rules all in one.

Are you seeing it on eBay by any chance?
I've been searching but can't find it.
It's piqued my collector's curiosity, too

Wouldn't a Holmes book from this era have the black-bordered GW cover? It wasn't until later that GW used the original cover. In any event, someone got a great deal. I can't tell from the photo, but is that a dollar sign or a pound sign on the price sticker? $5.00 would match the American price, so this copy may have been originally sold in the US.

Just after the mickey mouse version, GW produced the holmes edition inthe original layout (i guess its for the complete boxed set) and afaik sold them as stand alone books as well.
Its basically the holmes edition with the fairy logo on the copyroght page. I didnt bid on it as i alreay own one of them...

I think it's a £ sign on the sticker, and I'll let you know what it is when it arrives.  :D
That said, the seller didn't quite get the idea that I'd pay extra to have it mailed in rigid packing. He's gonna mail it in a card backed envelope.

That's my first buy in a long time. Feels weird to be adding to a collection I'm trying to cull. :?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

It's a GW logo UK F116-R (second print) in fine clean condition. Nice little book. :D
Price sticker for £5.00 on the outside looks like it's been there for years.
