The belt loop on the buckle appears to be incorrect.  BUT, the post that goes into the belt hole does appear correct (the other major way to tell a fake).  I think there are a lot of fakes that have made it into collections and are now being sold by resellers without knowledge.  IMHO, the collector should assume a buckle is fake unless it comes from a known source (TSR employee, Collector's Trove, etc).

This is a tough one because it looks authentic, at least from the pictures provided.  If I were to speculate, my guess would be that at some point the loop was repaired/replaced, or perhaps some of these buckles were made with that style of loop.  Having a closer look at it would help to determine if it's an original or not.

It would be good to get some provenance from the seller on this.

Bah humbug. Fake. Artificially aged, with bogus 'patina'. Belt loop looks worn/tarnished, that also faked to seem much-worn.

Usually a sign that people are intensely watching it  :D

Héctor.

As a watcher, they sent me an offer to buy this at $9k. I have a non-signed copy (#117), but even if I didn't have one already, $9k seems crazy high right? I wish they would just do a regular auction rather than a fixed price.

Compare it to a USA-version item without the 'Matchbox' logo, here:
** expired/removed eBay auction **

The items in the auctions you posted have an additional corporate logo at the bottom left of the card, which doesn't look like 'Matchbox,' though it is too small for me to read. If we could read the fine print, it might explain why both additional logos are present.

The additional logo at bottom left is also missing from this Italian version:

Edit to the above: the third logo at bottom left is 'Grand Toys/Jouets Grand,' a Canadian distributor. So I guess they had some kind of deal with Matchbox that didn't apply in other countries, maybe.

8O  A near mint copy of the Invisible Tower - I've never seen one before. I thought these were just a rumor. Are the maps missing?

He's also got the set of lead figures RP did to accompany it....

And a copy of the orange spine 7-.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

I think that is what you call being shafted after you purchased the first two.

I don't think anyone can believe that both Invisible Tower and the lead minis that go with it have come on the market at the same time.
Of course, without being able to handle them, it's hard to tell if it's complete or if all the figures are there.
Maybe that's why the price is so low.

I've never seen a copy of 7- before, but at that price I'll give it a miss unless it's signed by
