Yeah, but TBH, this whole thread is OT if you compare it to it's title. There's only so much T&T bashing a board can do if the thread is limited to just complaints about their eBay practaces, as anyone reading any of the multiple Cougie bashing threads will see. The majority of bashing threads do run off tangent for large chunks of time. That is the very nature of this type of thread.

Self-moderation is very commendable. I now see that the reason you did not answer questions posted because you were self-moderating, but this just came accross at the time as evasive and political manipulation. That was why I kept pushing the issue until we got a version of what was really happening.

Aside....

I HATE bulky fridge magnets. I don't have a problem with the ones that are like printed/shaped magnetic rubber, but plastic dodahs with magnets glued to the back are just offensive. The only thing worse are ones that play tunes.   

I had a really nice ceramic one, but that broke when it fell off...

The T&T Volunteers that bid on the items do so for their own personal pleasure. The only T&T employee that does not is the reseller-dude that sits in the front row.

The seller's costs are all up front (except for the comission feee at 15%, which is determined by the final price).

Auction Card - $1.00 (which everyone has to buy)
Auction Listing - $0.85 (for Auction, per item listed), and $0.35 (for the Auction store, per item listed)
[That is the pre-registration price - it goes up to $1.00 & $0.50 on site]
Auction Comission - 15% of sale price.

The Seller's fees are all paid up front. I registered approximately 28 items for the auction, which cost me $23.80, plus $1.00 for an auction card (and that is the pre-registration fee)


So using that example on the $10.00 item when I buy it, it costs me $11.00 (auction card - $1.00, plus the sale price $10.00).
It costs T&T $11.00 as well (auction card - $1.00, plus the sale price $10.00).

The buyer also pays 3% on all credit card charges, if he does not pay in cash. If everyone paid in credit card, then T&T would have a 3% advantage, since I'm sure to balance the books between The Partnership and T&T they would just write a check at the end of the day.

I pay in cash. They will not get an advantage over me.  


The Seller, at the end of the day, or when he feels that all his items are sold, can cash out. I cashed out Saturday evening (that way I had a free day to game on Sunday instead of waiting in line all day Sunday morning), and Bruce Carson reviewed my item list and paid me in cash. My items sold for (approximately $560.00, minus my 15% comission fee, was $476.00).

I'm sure that T&T has to follow the exact same procedure when paying items. And I'm also fairly confident that they would, as practical business sense would dictate, that there would be a proper paper trail between The Partnership, and T&T.

So the advantage, if any, would be in the assumption [And there's that word again... assumption] that Jon Huston gets a 50% split of "The Partnership", and therefore if he SELLS any item through T&T at the auction, that his commission fee would only be (theoretically) 7.5%.

Notice I said if he SELLS any item.

And like I posted earlier on this message board, T&T has a 20 X 20 booth in the dealer's room at Gencon, as they have for many years now. So they sell all their items there, and not in the auction. And trust me, if you see what they ask for the rarer items, you'd know that they would NEVER get that kind of money in the auction (even with their theoretical 7.5% advantage). Just look at their buy-it-now prices on Ebay...

When they BUY an item, they buy it at the same price as I do. There's no advantage on the buying side.

Anyone else receive a Toll & Road reply from their "Customer Complaints" dept when requesting a consolidated s&h charge for multiple purchases?

Of course, this was context-setting for the beginning of two months of ... well, let's just say, 'water under the bridge' for me.

Several Acaeum members who I've noticed frequenting this site have held a radically different context: buy with confidence; or, experience smooth buyer/seller eBay transactions!
