Problem is, Xax, that I could put up a B2 and ask $50K for it. The idiocy REALLY comes into play when someone actually pays that much.

Well, I was thinking that freaks travel in packs. Remember, just this week, we saw a brand new 4E item go for $69, which I was immediately able to turn into $50 for my personal copy. Cmon, in a world where two guys pay $50+ for a module less than a week old, which is undoubtedly destined to be reprinted, can you count out a 2 grand offer fora SW orange B3? I couldn't. I figured some numb nuts would see the one that went for 3 grand...and think they were getting a "steal" at 2 grand. Hey, it was worth a shot. I commend Aneoth for taking it. Honestly, we've all seen crazier prices for less valuable collectibles....

From the same Seller, a magazine called 'Dragontales'. It seems to be a fantasy fiction magazine, but the format is remarkably similar to early Dragons. Is this in anyway related or just a company imitating the popular 'Dragon' format?

It was published in August 1980 by Dragon Publishing. According to the last page of Dragontales, "Dragon Publishing is a division of TSR Hobbies, Inc. . . . Besides publishing Dragon magazine . . . Dragon Publishing is also the exclusive North American distributor for the British gaming magazines The Wargamer and White Dwarf."

That's interesting. I have never seen one of those before. Do you know how many they published?

Dragontales is listed in the periodicals list under Dragon (towards the bottom).

I had one of those but traded it to Grodog about 2 years ago.

It is just a compilation of short stories printed in Dragon over the years.

It'sa TSR publication from 1980 or so. I've never seen a Dragontales go for very much. IIRC, long time TSR staffer Roger Moore had a story, and then a bunch of people I don't remember. It may be rare, but they seem to turn up with regularlity here and there.

It took me awhile to sell my copy of Dragontales a few weeks back. (went for $9.99 and free shipping). They've never been easy to sell and they used to be pretty common. (though that was 5 or 6 years ago).

I gave my Dragontales away for free here a few years ago - grodog claimed it. The condition was:

Dragontales magazine (fiction compilation put out by Dragon magazine, includes stories by Tom Moldvay and Roger Moore) - interior pages are generally clean, but the cover is fugly. Front cover has some gunk on it (toothpaste? Shocked ) and the back cover has heavy scuffing and waviness. Bought this at a used bookstore in crunchy Bellingham, WA.

From my "Garbage Pits of Despair" thread. Speaking of which, we haven't had a good free giveaway here in a while. Beyondthebreach used to do them every so often. I may have a thing or two around here.

ITs prob about as common as The Best of Dragon magazines.. which are getting less common these days but show up regularly.. usually doesn't go for much $2-$5 odd.. I still need to pick one up at some stage..
