Actually, I got as high as a 10, through about four or five rounds of combat.  Problem was, I needed a 14 to hit the sucker.  I did eventually manage to connect a few times, including the last hit which killed him.  (It's a good thing that the two MUs had hit him earlier with a few magic missiles, and our cleric had cast a well-timed silence spell, which prevented the priest from casting on us what I'm sure would have been some pretty nasty spells.)  Of course, you were facing the High Priest too, Bill, and if I recall you weren't exactly hitting him either.

Those are the dice I always use when playing a dwarf.  Nice, solid metal.  And they had worked quite well most of the weekend.  I suspect they were just as tired as I was by then, and it showed.

Hey, I finally hit him...once...for minimum damage...

I was too busy rolling 20s with that thief against that other priest!  As I recall he took his shield arm and ear off using the Dragon Crit chart.

Anyway, we can now say we stormed the Temple of Orcus and kicked their asses. Well, everyone except Marshall (leadjunkie)...who took 63 damage from that lucky ass stone statue...

And yes, those MUs (Smarmy and LucyJoiyce) did save our bacon against that high priest. But they sure spent a long time hanging out by the exit....hmmm........

Back in Indy.  Thanks to Doug and Mike for an outstanding Con.  So much to talk about.  The best thing about going to the con is the chance to reconnect with friends.  Myself, Blackmoor, Badmike, Killjoy32, Smarmy1, KingofPain and lucyjoyce had a great time gaming, going out to dinner, and just sitting around laughing.

Some observations from the Con:

Quote of the Con came from Gnat the Beggar, "You know guys, Tegel Manor may be haunted."  You don't say, John.  It was my pleasure to meet John for the first time.  I enjoyed playing Circus Maximus with John.  Advice for those who may attend future Cons:  Do not play Circus Maximus with Blackmoor and ScketreWhisp.  They "colluded" to try and crash my chariot.  They failed, but probably cost me the win.

Bracton, lucyjoyce, Smarmy1, and myself helped Harley Stroh play test a new product to be released sometime next year.  We had a blast starting out as level zero characters and investigating the disappearance of fellow villagers.  The game was absolutely fantastic and everyone said they would buy it when it comes out.  Harley is a great DM - makes the game come alive for his players.

Tim Kask stopped by the hotel room about 11 pm Saturday night and talked about various topics with Blackmoor and myself until 2 am.  These little inpromptu gatherings are my favorite experiences from events such as this.  I also had the pleasure of playing in Tim's game.  Everyone had a great time trapesing across the desert.  One thing about this game:  one of the player's was an actual Chatholic Preist.  Father Brian was a fantastic player.  He could role play his ass off!   He actually wrote a limeric and had his bard "sing" it.  

Met Jason Braun for the first time.  He had a booth and I bought some of his art.  He also gave a seminar about the "art" side of the industry.  While speaking to us about his experiences and how he conceptualizes his pieces he actually created a peice that will be featured in an upcoming Knockspell.  He is an extremely talented artist.  He is also a shit-load of fun.

ScketreWhisp and Badmike are fantastic hosts.  Both are very attentive to their guests needs.  They actually had a waitress for the gamers.  She came around to each game and took orders for candy, drinks and so forth.  All of us gamers appreciated and took advantage of that service.  Doug, knowing he had a sucker (me) at the con, put out some of his art for sale.  I immediately snagged the Paul Jacquays "Sea Devils" piece.

I kicked ass at the raffle.  My haul:  Upper Works box set, 2 Swords and Wizardy white box sets.

There is so much more to say.  However, I'm at work and they actually expect me to get some things done.
