I am way too tired for a long post.  There's just too much to say about the weekend.  It was great seeing so many Acaeum members again, and meeting new ones.  I love Gen Con, but NTRPGCon reminds me a lot more of what Gen Con used to be, back in the early 80s, when it was just about getting together to play games and have fun.  What a fantastic time.

I had an amazing line-up of DMs -- Rob Kuntz, grodog, Tim Kask, Harley Stroh, billbarsh and TacoJohn.  What other convention has all of them?

A major shout-out to Doug and Mike.  You guys have put together an event you should be very proud of.

hey guys

well i am back at mikes - my brain is just starting to begin to function again - still so damn tired tho.

i have a ton of pictures and i video'd the whole auction too (wasnt that big, but i think nice to sit and watch) - i will sort something with these when i get back home on friday morning.

first off, i want to thank Doug and Mike for planning such an outstanding event. so much hard work went into it and i would like to think that it was all worth the effort, as everyone there surely had a fabulous time.

i got to chat with so many folk, friends old and new - its always a buzz to catch up with folk again and its one of the reasons i travel so far for....good friends are damn hard to come by - to get to game together is priceless!

so thursday night, saw me playing Gamma World....something i hadnt played for almost 30 years. all i can say is about the game played, is that there were 8 slots available for the game, and 5 played it. imvho the 3 slots that didnt get filled by anyone there - they missed a hilarious absolutely fantastic session of fun!!! Steve was a wonderful DM - he set the stage very well and the NPCs were so much fun and the personalities of each were portrayed so well - it got you right into the game and made it a ton of fun - i mean, how better can it be, to have THREE grenades, and the eagerness to go use them was on the edge of everyones tongues to go blow stuff up it was truly a blast and for me right up there amongst the best the con had to offer - my own opinion of course and i can only hope that a future con also has Gamma World 1st Ed played too - you guys really need to get into it - its too much fun to be ignored.

Friday morning, after 3 hours sleep, i had to run Tegel Manor (i really need to do something else!!) again - we ended up having a full group and it was a real privilege for me, to have such a great group of players - i had a great time and after Gamma world with Steve Winter the night before, it was a blast for me to have him come play in my game and can only hope i offered the same fun as i got from his game. it was scheduled for like 4 hours or something, but we carried on and it ran for like 8 hours or something - and the group didnt finish - which was a real shame. i very much enjoyed it and can only thank the folk who played for taking the time out to come play and have some fun!!! so now that my game was out of the way, i could finally relax

i then attended a seminar about the good ol' days and was very interesting to listen to the chaps talk about it all - lots of fun and very informative.

then it was tims game - which was also a blast. we all had a great time and some very interesting combats/scenarios later, we all managed to survive it!!! always a joy to play in a game of Tim Kask's. if you havent yet gotten into one of his games, you really need to get it sorted!

saturday saw me playing in Circus Maximus for the first time ever - before the con, i hadnt even heard of it! i was tired and it took me a while to figure out the rules, but the players were a bunch of fun and very helpful too and i think by the level of laughter - everyone had a great time! Jeff tried to whack me a number of times and ended up flipping the chariot and incredibly, i managed to come an amazing 2nd - but it didnt matter - it was about the fun - and that was achieved in heaps.

then we had the megadungeon seminar - which was also a great chat. the guys were very informative and it was a pretty lively chat, with lots of questions and input coming from the attendees too. very enjoyable.

then sat night saw me in Robs game, with the gang. this was also a tremendous adventure. we all kinda get lulled into the same kind of adventures all the time and it was a joy to play something that was quite frankly, totally out there!!! it was REALLY different from the norm and three hours of killing my brain trying to figure things out, totally fried me, but i enjoyed it immensely despite the fact that the one monster that we encountered, i think had a death-wish on me, cos it hit me with pretty much everything in the arsenal and also the kitchen sink - personally, i would love to see more adventures like this - so a huge pat on the back for Rob, for coming out with something like this and pulling it off very well - thankyou Rob!

so that was the gaming done for me- i didnt plan anything for sunday - that was my chill out and relax day, so i could just mix, check out games and catch up with folk and just go over the weekend with people and just talk at random. but a great 2 hour convo with Rob about various things, was also a joy. things like that are cool and it gave me some great ideas for an adventure i want to work on for a future game at the con!

i played another game of Circus Maximus in the afternoon - but i managed to flip the chariot at the end of lap 1, but it was a ton of fun, and in the end, who cares if you win or lose, as long as you enjoy sharing a good time with your friends. that said, i did go out of it spectacularly!!! i managed to kill driver and horses in the process

so what did i think of the whole con? well yea, there are things that could be nudged and changed and improved - the day you cant see room for improvement, is the day you become lax in what you do - but the con itself, was 10 out of 10 and a truly fantastic gaming experience. again, anyone who didnt attend, missed a thoroughly excellent time and a truly unique gaming experience. if you are even considering a future event of theirs, even at 1% probability, you seriously need to think about coming to the next one. you seriously have no idea what you are missing out on.

so there we go - all done once again. i always feel sad at the end. for me, its been amazing to catch up with my friends once more and i have no doubt whatsoever, that i will be coming again. people who question why the hell i come 5000 miles just to play some games, frankly, they just dont get it. i will quite honestly, remember these things forever.

so one and all, thankyou for helping me have such a great time - there truly are some exceptional folk at these cons and i never say these things lighly. it was a real pleasure.

Jeff beat the few bidders to win the numbered copy of Lost Tamoachan for $275 (I think).  
It was missing a couple of items, but even so a real bargain for that one.

Another person won two somewhat expensive items back to back..
WoM ($400) and another item that I do not recall right now.
