Doug Williams wrote:There is a freeware DOS emulator called DOSbox (easy to find with Google) that will allow your modern PC to run these great old games in their full EGA glory. It even emulates the old PC speaker sounds! Of course, you need a copy of the actual games for it to work. Great stuff!

killjoy32 wrote:poor robert green ... i personally thought he redeemed himself with a fantastic save from a US player that needs a kicking for NOT scoring from a position like that (ppl easily overlook stuff like that) - he also did well considering the defence looked lethargic and not even in the game.

The Amiga was capable of better graphics and music so a number of games had these features compared with the PC version. Its a wonder why people put up with the grunts and beeps of PC speaker compared with 4 channel stereo sound.
Doug Williams wrote:Great idea. My first PC was a Commodore 64 back around 1983. Much better sound and graphics than the then current x86 based PCs. I was an "early adopter" when the Amiga 500 was first released. Amazing graphics and sound for the time. I resisted buying a x86 system for a long time, but finally it became obvious that Commodore was going under and you were either going to x86 or be one of those weird Apple people.

Kingofpain89 wrote:That was a pretty impressive block by Green there. I just finished watching the Algeria/Slovenia match and based on what I saw, England and the U.S. definitely have the superior teams. The England players really know how to control the ball and their passing and movement skills are really incredible. I thought Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney were especially impressive. It will be interesting to watch a couple of the really great teams play each other later in the tournament.
