I did leave a nickel once as a tip. I was with a good college friend, who happened to be a woman who was not the slightest bit attractive. For whatever reason the waitress (who was attractive) decided that it was against the laws of nature or something for me to be seen in public with this woman, and was actually almost outright hostile to her, and did everything she could to neglect us. Man was I pissed. I gave her the evil eye on the way out, daring her to challenge me. I would have had a lot of fun explaining to her manager what had happened, but it didn't come to that.

If you don't tip for decent service, or tip miserly, do NOT patronize the same restaurants during the same times of day. The waitstaff DOES remember you.  Things WILL happen to your food. I have had numerous friends and two kids work as wait people.  I have heard many, many stories, some stomach turning, involving people who do not tip continuing to patronize establishments and expecting life as usual.

You wouldn't believe the number of people that come into restaurants, make total asses of themselves by being demanding and whining and sometimes even threatening the wait staff (we aren't talking five star establishments but placed like Black Eyed Pea or On the Border), take up all the wait person's time for a table of ten, then leave a buck on the table....then come back AGAIN the next week...do the same thing.....and don't expect their hamburger to, say, have been rubbed on the big smelly dirty cook's ass cheeks (true story) or their dinner to have been dribbled by toilet water (also true story).  BTW I have worse stories involving non tipping patrons that I don't want to share this morning as some make me a bit queasy.....the ones involving cream sauces or soups...blech......

If you can't afford to tip, you don't need to be eating out, seriously. Either figure it into your bill as part of the cost or do fast food when you get to the point you can't stand  your own cooking.

Ok, so they may have been wearing them on purpose to rile someone up, looking at their comments, but irrespective of what day it was, they are in America for Chris'sakes!

I can't imagine being told not to wear my England shirt on any day I choose.

Here's a possible plan:

1)  Tell Mexican American students that they are now Americans.  

2)  Tell everyone that riots, disturbances and violence will result in punishment for anyone who does it.

3)  Carry out the punishment with total severity.

4)  Repeat as necessary.

Worst part is, it's basically not even a holiday in Mexico, at least according to wikipedia. Always seemed to me like it was more of an advertising opportunity for Corona and Dos Equis, in any case. In my view, this is basically the equivalent of wearing orange on St. Patrick's Day. Rude, but hardly something to be taken seriously. I'm glad to see the school district disagreed with the school principal.
