Easy to tell they are real.  They are direct from the author - the only guy who has been selling them for years and years now.

From what I've seen, they are the originals. Same feel, paper texture, printing method, ink quality etc. And, he has no means of reprinting the one's he's missing from his collection, hense no Dungeons of Dr. Demento. Don't forget to ask for a signiature. He is the author of a good 50% of them.

I wrote him a couple of years ago, when I bought a complete set of them from him.

In our discussions, he admitted that he has several boxes remaining of these books in storage.
They are over prints from 1984, and yes the copies he is selling are all originals.

NOTE of Caution:
Some of them might have bad pages and some might also have misprints.
Once you get them thumb through the books to check for problems.
I noted one that book I received had one completely blank page (no ink) and I sent it back for a replacement copy....
The seller is very easy to work with and would NOT mind signing the books he wrote/designed...

Did you manage to get a copy of Dungeon of Dr. Demento? (Not Condo of Dr. Demento).

There are probelms with the original pgotocopying/printing on two sides of a sheet bleading text either through the paper or over onto adjacent touching sheets, so there is often ghosting of printed text running over pages. I didn't find it to be too bad that I couldn't read or appreciate the tourneys, and I suspect they are all like that. Also, on some ther page numbering is a bit screwy and you could end up worrying that you're missing a page when in fact your tourney is complete.

They're a good buy at $15 for the most part, certainly from what I've read of the eight D&D tourneys.

There are probably half a dozen folks here with a copy, but maybe no more than that. It is a rarity.

I vaguely remember getting a similar response when I bought my copies too.  I remember that we (of the Acaeum) also tried to do a bulk buy of copies he wasn't very cooperative so it didn't go through.

The trouble is that there aren't very many sources you can get these from.  Most collectors have bought them through the seller/author and kept their copies.

Too bad they didnt split those Dragons out.  Probably woulda made alot more than what theyre gonna get.

I woulda bid on the #4 and #5.  As a lot though, probably won't bother.  #1 commands too much to take the lot for just 2 books.
