Hi,

dear me, talk about 15 minutes of fame.

The official announcements about the London Olympics tickets came out today, and we have got Opening Ceremony ones

I really hadnt realised how scarce they were going to be.

The Missus has so far been interviewed twice on radio about them, and has had to turn down a tv interview as shes busy.

Absolutely bizarre. I wonder who has all the rest of the tickets then?

I received the following communication from them today:

Hello *Name removed*,

Thanks for using PayPal and the PayPal Money Market Fund. Unfortunately, we've decided to close the Money Market Fund, effective 7/29/11.

What does this mean for you? PayPal will transfer any undisbursed dividends you've earned into your PayPal account within 7 business days after we close the fund. Don't worry; you don't have to do a thing.

Your 2011 tax documents will continue to be available on the Fund Summary page in your PayPal account throughout 2012. You'll receive a tax statement from PayPal only if you've earned $10 or more in dividends in 2011.

What a joke. It's not like they were paying out much money right now. I may have earned $1.00 all year. Still, in the past, when it first started, I earned a fair amount, so I'm sad to see it go. :cry:

Congrats Al, did the 3 Peaks myself a couple of weeks ago, not so far in walking distance, but it was damn tough.

I've done 87 miles in 4 days before on my own and that was mentally very tough, so hope the jaunt is/has gone well for you...

It's a sure bet there's more to the story.

However, it did take place in philadelphia, so no amount of savage and criminal behavior should prove surprising.

As a native of the Philly area.... I have to totally agree.

Leaving for NY in 2 weeks! Woohoo! I'll miss the tax free shopping, but that's about f'ing the extent of my sentimentality about the region.

Some of my worst cases of heartburn have come from eating too much bacon at breakfast. In principle, though, I agree

. Scrapple is another favorite here, too. I once witnessed my youngest consume 1/2 pound of scrapple in one sitting (for those who don't know what this is, don't ask--you don't wanna know).

I've seen enough episodes of Diners, Drive-In's & Dives to know what scrapple is. It actually looks kind of tasty in a strange sausagey kind of way. Yeah I know its made from the parts of the hog that no one knows what else to do with but it cant be any worse than the "country style" or "whole hog" sausage that they sell in grocery stores around here. And its definitely more appetizing than black pudding. :lol:

I was raised on scrapple; relatives in Pennsylvania Dutch farm country.

1 cup corn meal
1/2 pound chopped pork
plus chopped onion, salt, pepper, water

It's fried (either pan-fried or deep-fried) spicy-seasoned corn mush with pureed pig mixed in. You can barely taste the pig.

Never could see what all the fuss was about.

You wanna really lose your appetite, ask the local health inspector how many rat turds are permitted (in parts per X) in "Grade AAA pure" foods. Scrapple is like sirloin in comparison.

Some of it is made from beef nowadays, too, instead of pork (or in addition to pork, I think, in some cases). I would use the term "pork" advisedly, and with qualifiers: pork brains, pork bone meal, pork lips, pork snouts... pork, well, use your imagination

I love the stuff, but you're right about the "pureed" part. It's downright gooey. As a non-native scrapple diner, I need to have it fried up crispy so I can forget temporarily what it is. Some people around here barely cook it. Yuck.
