Does look nice ... really new and shiny looking.
But most of that could be the light shining off the lamination...

All screens are laminated on the exterior cover....

If I am going to shell out $$$$ for a first print DM Screen, then it wont be one that has been laminated by a previous owner.

I consider lamination and other things done by previous owners to the original item as MAJOR faults in grading a rare, or semi-rare collectable and IMO such things almost always push the item out of collectable level, except (Perhaps) as a place holder until something better comes along.

Certainly makes them less than desirable if the price is steep, as this one likely will be.

I would guess it will still go over $40...

Many folks fail to read the printed description after seeing a fine looking picture.... they just hit that bid now button and then move on to the next item...

I would rather save that money to put towards a copy that does not have lamination....

But thats just me...  8)

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any indication the lamination was done by a previous owner. They came that way. My original from BITD certainly is, and it is separating a bit at the top of the 4-panel like this one appears to be doing.

I thought they were originally that way too, as a corner on mine is separating slighty as well

They have an enamel coating on the outside. It can appear that it is laminated.

I think further questions are in order. That screen could go for as much as $120 or as little as $50 if there is an open question regarding lamination or not.

edit. Question asked.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

In which case, the seller probably mistook the enamel as lamination as did we. But, we'll see when the reply comes about.

He said it has been laminted about four times and it is smoke damaged, water damaged, high-lited, pen marked, coffee stained and pop stained. Otherwise it looks like shit...

No, it is as original. No lamination:

Dear billbarsh,

No, not a pain. I'm probably using the wrong words. The exterior is definitely not the super-thick laminated plastic that is used to seal documents on both sides. The exterior is smooth and glossy; the interior has no treatment at all, just the cardstock and printing.

Let me know if that helps, and if you need more info I can attempt some closer pics and send them to you.

Funny thing is, I had no idea if it is 1st print of any worth! It is from my brothers early gaming days (probably very early '80s) and has just been part of set of those books that I've always held onto!

I'm going to check the front pages of the site now to check what it really is. I still thought these were common as muck over here...  8O

EDIT - Ok, mine looks like the ebay sale first highlighted a few posts back, but I can't see pics of it anywhere on the site here.. :?:

First prints are easy to detect. No illustration on two panel screen.
