We're just beating a dead shrew.  Something else will eventually replace the shrew schtick.

BTW, when's the next North Texas GTG?  October is almost here.

As I recall, Tegel Manor is a real manorhouse in Germany....nothing like the JG Tegel...I assume.

What I want to know is...

Does anyone have any more pictures to post of GenCon, Lake Geneva Con, industry figures or members of the Acaeum?

I have enjoyed seeing them.  I have also made a point of saving copies of pictures to my own computer for historic preservation purposes.  (With apologies to the owners...who probably aren't going to have a cow since they posted the pictures to the web.)

For instance...one of the pictures from online relates to a discussion from some months ago.  There was an Ebay auction for modules supposedly displayed in the TSR front office display case.

There was some question as to the legitimacy of this claim.

I have a picture of part of the display cases that did indeed exist in the TSR front offices...so the story was at least plausible.

Pictures of industry figures are especially important to have and save.

Anyone?

You go, Mark!

I always assumed that certain web pages (free RPGs, freeware, etc.) were somehow eternal; I was unpleasantly surprised when they disappeared for good, taking their content with them.

Archiving the existing photos is important for historical and research purposes.  I am glad that someone is doing it.

What I put on Facebook is pretty much all I've got for Gen Con 2007.  I have a few 2006 pictures I could upload.  Nothing special, though --  I think the only Acaeum member I photographed last year was Frank.  Everybody knows what he looks like by now, don't they?

Nope.  What's he look like?

Hmm. Maybe I should donate that photo to Frank's Wikipedia entry.  But after I color-correct it -- he's not that red-faced in real life.

Not me, I'm never red-faced. I have no shame, don't drink much and I'm not Irish, so all the usual factors don't apply.
He does look like he's been staring at the sun a bit too long. Bad lighting?

Yeah, probably because the camera batteries were low and the flash was acting funny.

I lost that camera at a comic convention in June, so I replaced it with one that uses rechargeable batteries. And then I broke the charger at Gen Con. Have I ever mentioned my whole love/hate thing with cameras?

Anyway, I remembered to put my Gen Con 2006 photos up last week:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... id=2250783

Not many industry luminaries, but I did photograph a strange number of exhibitor booths, so maybe I photographed somebody who's going to be a luminary in 20 years.  You never know.

Wheee!  Nipple alert!

Where the heck was this girl this past year?  All I saw at the Troll Lord booth were a bunch of dudes.  I think a couple of them had boobs but...well....it just isn't the same.  :P

And something else....these people that dress up shouldn't get all irritated about people staring at them and wanting to take their picture.  If they feel that way then they just shouldnt be dressing up.  Especially 400 lb. dudes wearing a Flash costume.  8O

Contrarian, the reference in one of your photos to:

http://www.iwanttobestephencolbertsgamerfriend.com/

was from one of his first season episodes when he was talking about his youth and spending part of it playing D&D. He retired his dice that night while talking about running The Thieves of Fortress Badabaskor for his friends and his sister.

There is an interview with Colbert talking about D&D at:

That teat is a bit high and inside. It'd be a ball in Major League.

Ashley was there, maybe not as much as the year prior, but she walked around more this year's GenCon. Course I know all this because she  roomed with me and a couple other guys both years.
Side note: she's in one of the Troll Lord's products where you'll see her image. (Not telling yet which one, scavenger hunt :) )
