thats good, sounds fair enough.

I've passed on several auctions recently due to rather high shipping fees, such as $20+ for items that would easily fit in a Med or Large Flat Rate Box; $20 for a Med Flat Rate Box, and most recently, $10 for a Small Flate Rate Box.

If a seller clearly states up front they charge a handling fee, I can respect that. I don't have to like it, but at least they are being up front about it, and I can choose to pay it or skip their auction.

As for the fella charging $10 for the $5 Small box, here's what he said when I asked him if $10 was a typo:

"no typo, need to pay for gas and my time to go stand in like. shipping is $10."

For what it's worth, slim profit margins killed by eBay's increasing fees are what kicked me out of the selling business.  My choices were to either stop selling or charge extra handling in an amount equal to my added expense.  I stopped.  

Some shipping charges are blatant gouging and should be treated as such.

The larger trend, however, is indicative of small sellers pushed to the brink by a lack of profit potential, exacerbated by the economy and eBay's greed.  Compare the selection available now to that of, say, 2001; I think more sellers are going to realize there's no wriggle room left and bow out permanently instead of working 20 hours a week for a negative wage.

Stick it to the bad guys though.  It's pretty obvious who they are.
